I have used PCmover / LapLink 4 or 5 times and it has always worked without problems except the first time when i got impatichen and messed it up. Just started over and it basically fixed my mistake.

Did not need, an external hard drive works better

If you follow directions and do all the prepping, it works! Transferred all files and apps and settings. The new computer did not have Ethernet connection, so had to do the transfer wirelessly. It took about 24 hours to complete the transfer. Had to sign back into apps and all work fine. It was worth buying PCmover!

I couldnt transfer half of my software or Office

I have used this wonderful software several times now, twice in the last couple of months.

Moved all of my files but some programs did not transfer and many did. Some programs had to be re-installed manually but the system recognized the product codes and those did not have to be reinstalled. I would use the product again if moving to a new computer. Here are some additional tips.

Only transferred a select few of my applications and only partials of others. The partial transfers made it difficult to reinstall the software to my new computer as the old files interfered with installation and I had to figure out how to uninstall the partial programs. This software will analyze every hard drive on the computer for transfer and you cant select just the C Drive operating system. When the software analyzed my hard drives, it actually erased some of my video files!

I recommend it

This is the second time I have used this product to upgrade a laptop computer. On both occasions the basic functions work when there is a large amount of data to transfer as long as one uses the proper transfer cable (vice a WiFi network). Again, use the cable! Once the transfer was complete much time will probably be used cleaning up the parts of some programs that dont completely transfer, to include most individual preferences made to programs installed long ago and for which the original disk cannot be found.

Looked great to start with but would never open up the programs completely. Would just stall and reload over and over again. I got an IT manager to look at it and after about 45 minutes he suggested we get on the chat line for long sections or just remove it. So we removed it
