> 3 dayWorks perfectly and installs real quick. I didnt have a helper but I did have a sledge hammer handy as ya can see in the first pic. Theres instructions on this page that walk you thru it if you need them. I glanced over them and got this completed in 3-4 minutes. Sure as hell beats the $100+ quote from the repair shop.

> 3 dayMy 2015 Sonata hood struts gave out and would no longer hold the hood open after five years. On the Hyundai parts website it list a single Lift Cylinder - Hyundai (81161-C1000) for a $155.51 ($311.02 for a set). I looked on line for another option and ordered these hood struts/lift cylinders and they fit perfectly and installed in minutes. Be sure to prop your hood open with a piece of wood or some other object to support the hood when you take the old hood strut out. Simply use a screwdriver to pry the clip that holds the old struts on the ball joints and pull the hood strut off (lots of videos on the internet showing how to do this). To install the new hood struts simply snap over the ball joints on the car (no need to pry the clips). Finally, move the hood up and down a few times to ensure it works. It is that simple. These replaced part number 81161-C1000 which can be found printed on the original struts in the car (see attached picture).

> 3 dayMy Sonatas hood started dropping on me once in awhile. Annoying. For some unknown reason, the Hyundai OEM parts come LH and RH and are insanely overpriced - over $300/pr (I kid you not). These fit and work fine. A little stiffer. Longevity unknown at this time, obviously.
