> 24 hourSince more and more laptops are not coming with CD/DVD drives I go this. I had plugged it into a USB extension that I keep near my keyboard, but it kept connecting and disconnecting. Once I plugged it directly into the docking station it was able to stay connected. I like that it has an USB C connector on it along with the USB A connector, but Im always worried when something comes with a hardwired USB cord, what happens when the cord frays or connector gets damaged - you cant change them out and the device is dead. Overall, glad I got it to continue to burn photos and document backups for my mom.

> 24 hourLaptop these days do not come with a CD drive anymore. This posses a problem when you need to reinstall your older programs and games that you need to use on your new machine. This portable CD drive burner works great. It reads and writes great with my cd burning software. My laptop had no issues recognizing it when I installed it. It burns CDs and DVDs quickly if you need that function. Great overall item with a needed purpose for me. Recommend.

> 24 hourit has a nice sleek design which is nice for keeping it out of the way, and is easy to use with the push of a button, my only complaint about the drive is the cable length, the cable is too short to actually reach anywhere, and it cant be plugged into a usb splitter or anything as it well become under powered and will not work, if the cable had an actual length too it then I would find myself using it a lot more often instead of when I absolutely need it.

> 24 hourMost newer computers sadly dont come with a CD/DVD drive anymore, which I understand tech. I got this so I could use it in backing up my CD collection and converting them to digital files. Yes I still buy CDs and Vinyl of albums when I can. Really nice setup with the cable attached to the drive and USB C works great with my current laptop. Im running Windows 11/10 on the PCs I use and didnt have to install any drivers and the system picked it up with no issues. Read write speeds are spot on with older tech. I didnt try the Lightscribe out on the drive, yeah I use to print them back in the day of making mix CDs for everyone. I dont have the media required anymore to make it, but glad there is still a company out producing this. If youre a techy you need this, just in case..... You know how it is.

> 24 hourI was surprised to see a HP Lightscribe drive available for purchase in 2023, for sure. I was skeptical that I could make the Lightscribe function work. But, one trip to the Internet Archive later, I was able to install the HP Lightscribe software on Windows 10, and surprisingly it works perfectly with this USB drive! Other than the Lightscribe support, there is not much of interest - which isnt a bad thing. Its a CD and DVD burner that works as expected. It has an attached cable with is nice, with both USB-A and USB-C leads. Bottom line - its a reliable external burner. If you are interested in Lightscribe, I think this might be your only option at this point! Really cool.

> 24 hourI am really pleased with this external drive. It works well with my laptop. It was just what I was looking for. Plays both DVDs and CDs as well as reading and writing to writable CDs and DVDs. I also like that the connection cable stores in the botton of the unit and has both USB-A and USB-C connectors.

> 24 hourI purchased this to help archive family videos on old DVDs. Plugged it in to a USB3 port and it worked flawlessly without any configuration needed in Windows 10. It feels pretty well built as well.

> 24 hourNice , well made external dvd drive ! Great future is USB type C connector , especially with all these newer laptops ! Lightscribe laser is also great future, unfortunately can be used only on Lightscribe CD/DVDs. Requires additional software as well . Works great on Windows 11. So far I am satisfied and would recommend this product !

> 24 hourI like how you dont need an additional power cable or 2 USB ports to power it. It is compact and light. The USB-C connection is perfect for my laptop. Most laptops are doing away with the standard USB so this will help in either situation. I plugged it into my PC and it worked right away. No need to install separate drivers. Im not thinking to use it for burning but that may come in handy in a pinch. I just need it to play instructional videos at various sites. I put in a DVD from my movie collection and it played just fine using VLC media player with no jutter or delay. Jumping between scenes using the slider was instantaneous. Im very impressed with this small DVD player.

> 24 hourThe Alphami dvd drive sold by Cloudtale is made in PRC (china). The USB external drive case houses a slim DVD drive, and my external case had the HP DS-8A5LH optical drive with firmware revision 1H68 installed. The drive worked well when plugged in, no issues with drivers or such on Windows 10 and 11. My previously installed Nero software worked fine with this drive (software not included). The housing has some padded feet on the bottom, which helps when the drive is spun to full speed. This is a decent DVD writer. 4 stars
