Liquitex Professional Gesso Surface Prep Medium, 3.78L (128-oz), Clear

I have used this before and it is fabulous!

This gesso worked great. I had a green paper backed canvas for a mural job. The green color was maintained with just a slight matte overlay. It left a great surface that allowed smooth strokes. The gesso went futher than I anticipated so there is plenty left for more projects.

Was not familiar with gesso until I did some research . A thin coat mixed with a little water I used a sponge brush to apply and let dry . It’s transparent , you can’t even see it. Paint goes on much more easily . Will be using from now on .

Didn’t seem to make a whole lot of difference.

This works great to use as a ground to make your own pastel painting boards. Use mat board covered with this clear gesso. You can also tint it to any shade by adding a touch of ink, watercolor or acrylic paint.

The cap for the paint was critically damaged upon arrival (so bad that it couldnt be closed). The seal was still in-tact, so the paint itself is fine. Sending it back seemed wasteful because they would probably just throw it out, and I was able to find a screw cap which will do the trick. That being said, this wasnt a good experience.

Like another reviewer I purchased clear gesso as a cheaper alternative to pastel mat, im a beginner and practicing techniques, so quite a waste using pastel mat for this. Clear gesso mixed with watercolour tube paint gives me a huge variety of choices for background colours. I paint the mixture onto watercolour paper, wait for it to dry and Im good to go.

I have used this product in the past. Very good product and will recommend to my friends in the future.

Liquitex that is non-student grade is the best type of acrylic to work with. I am a full time art student, and only work with the best instructors who also recommend Liquitex!
