lana del rey isn’t just a human being, she’s a cultural reset, a reason to breathe, everything that I live for. she’s the reason why I wake up, the reason why I dress up, the reason why I eat, the reason why I still want to live in this mean world. she’s my everything.

Lana is one of the most underrated artists of our time. This album is incredible. Its very personal and passionate and her voice is just beautiful. I really hope she never stops making music. Shes gifted.

My girlfriend wants to go see LDR. So, I bought tickets and 3 of her CDs: Lust For Life, Ultraviolence (which I owned previously and like) and Born to Die. Well, this CD should be titled: Been There, Done That, as it just seems to me to be the same rehashed sound. Honestly, I barely distinguish any song (other than where she has a guest rapper on Groupie in Love) on this album from the others. Im guessing that after seeing her next week, Ill be asking, Did she play that last night? If you love Lana Del Rey, you will likely love this, as its more of the same of her signature sound. Note to Lana Del Rey: You might start writing some lyrics which are not so insipid. Lana in concert: Never been so bored during a concert. Worst of all, shes not even singing what youre hearing. She might be singing, but shes got a recorded track blasting alongside her live version. How do I KNOW? She moved the microphone from her mouth, stopped singing, yet the singing continued. You could see the, I screwed up on her face.

Sadly everything that was good about her music has died. All that was dynamic, cinematic, and jazz. All that made her music unique in a world with too many Madonna clones has vanished from her sound. This album is awful in comparison to her previous releases. I dont like the obvious sound of the drum machines and sequencers. These things seemed to be mixed so much better in previous albums. The duets are pretty bad with the Sean Lennon duet being the best of them. Even the Stevie Nicks duet lacks luster. The tracks with rappers are atrocious and I wish I could unhear them. Rappers do not lend well to her music. A couple tracks have a hint of what helped her sound different then rest of female pop artists today including In My Feelings, Heroin, and the last track called Get Free. I hope this was a result of a new producer that wont be back for anymore albums. I loved all her releases until this and if you dug those albums for how they sounded you may find this difficult to enjoy like I did. Just look at the art work, she is smiling, you know this cant be good. (Thats a joke) Overall the sound production, pop-styling and rappers really ruined this for me.

Less about the music, more about the vinyl pressing. Previous Lana vinyl has been an afterthought apparently. Discs sound noisy and undefined, especially the red vinyl Honeymoon. This though, sounds GREAT. As good as any other modern 180g pressing Ive heard. Its such a satisfying feeling when you pay $40+ for a copy and it sounds actually made for people to listen to it. Not in the I love vinyl because it sounds like crap way, but in the I love vinyl because I have decent equipment and can hear the sonic advantages way. Thank you Interscope or whatever for finally doing her music justice and putting some money behind a good presentation. Listening on: VPI Scout with Ortofon Blue cart, Pro-Ject Tube Box DS, Sansui 7070, Polk Monitor 10 and Wharfedale Denton 80th Anniversary

I love Lana Del Rey. With that being said this was a 4 star album, but I had to remove one star for the 2 tracks featuring rapper Asap Rocky. Summer Bummer for me truly was just that. It gave me a head ache almost instantly. Groupie Love was equally brutal. Asap Rocky should be called A Crap No Talent. On the upside. Tomorrow Never Came with Sean Lennon sounds wonderful, almost like a lost Beatles track which fits nicely in Lanas style.
