> 24 hourMy son has loved this puzzle since he was 6 months old. I was excited to give it to him at Christmas. He has put it through the ringer in the last 3 months as he plays with it every day. I have thought all along that the clunky animals and barn pieces were wood until I was wiping it down with some soapy rags. Thats when I looked closely where the paint chipped off and saw the edges were getting saturated...it wasnt wood it was pressboard?! I couldnt believe anyone would make a toy that goes into mouths invariably out of something as foul and hazardous as particleboard!!! This is not ok. Now I have to take away my sons favorite toy! I have told my dad about the puzzle and he is cutting out some teak scraps that he has into the shapes and I ll paint them since Im pretty good at that stuff and my dad is a great carpenter. Its worth the trouble for my sons favorite toy, especially since i want to keep this puzzle for future kids too. Why dont Melissa and Doug charge a couple bucks more for pine or poplar...they can use rejected, warped wood...its so frustrating what some companies do to make a buck...its sick when unsuspecting parents and babies suffer from their corporate bottom line. I wont he buying anymore of their puzzles like I had intended to. I will just stick with used puzzles on ebay or something. Such a downer Melissa and Doug! Now I m wary of all kids toys. Bottom line: If you dont care about your kid putting toxic resins and ingesting particle board, or if your child is over putting stuff in their mouths and banging puzzle pieces to bits, this is a fun little puzzle. My son has gotten a ton of play before I had to remove it, I will be having my dad copy the pieces and maybe the whole back as well so my son can continue enjoying this product safely.

> 24 hourGreat product, except mine came with defects on 2 of the animals :( so upsetting really was excited for this. Overall the product is good but be aware that it might come not in a perfect condition especially if youre getting this as a gift.

> 24 hourI got this puzzle on a lightning deal so the price was just perfect. I had had my eyes on this series of puzzles for a while now so I was thrilled to see them featured! I was debating between the peg puzzles and the chunky puzzles but ultimately decided on the chunky for a few reasons: -Though more expensive, the thicker pieces can hold up to more beatings -Pieces are thick enough to stand on their own so can double as wooden imaginary play pieces (we use them with blocks) -Thicker pieces are easier for little hands to grab onto- as opposed to grabbing onto the tiny pegs. I know Melissa and Doug sells puzzles with large knobs, but I felt my son would outgrow those too quickly and this way I would get the most use for my money. I love the bold colors of the farm animals, their smiling faces, and I love that the pieces have the right amount of weight to them. Unlike some of the other Melissa and Doug toys, these dont seem to just have a sticker on the front that can get peeled off (or sucked off since at this age everything ends up in the mouth. The edges of the pieces are painted and smooth. In terms of age, I love that such a wide range of ages can get use out of them. I got these for my son when he was 9 months old, so obviously he was a bit young to be assembling the puzzle. At first he just took the pieces out from their places and now, at 11 months we go through and practice animal sounds. Eventually, hell be able to do the puzzle himself. (Note: I know the recommended age for this product is 2+ years. Use your own discretion as a parent to make the right choice for your child)

> 24 hourI love this puzzle. My daughters speech therapist brings it with her when she has her visits. My daughter loves doing it over and over again and she has gotten so good at it. The animal pieces are thicker than the board so they stick out making it easy for those little hands to pick them up. I had to order one because it makes me so happy to see my daughter doing so well with it.

> 24 hourThis is a very satisfying puzzle for little ones -- 2-3 years old to start and can continue longer. The animals are easy for little hands, and you can also stand the animals up and play with them outside the puzzle. As I have suggested before, think of a label for each of these M&D puzzles and use a sharpie to label the back...because these puzzles are all made a like and Mom might need help putting pieces back when the puzzles get tipped.

> 24 hourI bought these for my (then) 19 month old. At first he struggled and had little interest. Its been a month now and he is pretty good at it. Some are still tricky, but he matches them up correctly every time. I purchased the farm and jungle themed puzzles. As far as longevity, I give it a 4. It didnt take long to get scratched up.
