Mora has made high quality and reasonably priced knives for years. This is just one of many that I have used and given as gifts.

i got one of these for a bushcraft knife and ive never been let down! its thick enough to baton, its thin enough that i use it to skin deer, and cheap enough that im never worried about hurting it. recommend everyone have one!

Really great back up or main survival knife. It gifts so comfortably in my hand. Came very sharp. Absolutely perfect.

If you can beat this knife for the price -- go for it, but I doubt that will happen. Stout and sharp with a great handle. This baby will take some abuse.

Most of the one and two star reviews on this knife are because people dont know that high quality carbon steel will rust if not cared for properly. That being said, I bought my first Mora in 1956 for a whopping $1.50 and it served me well for many year, even with the abuse I put it through. I have since used many knives, am a collector and former dealer and simply have a passion for quality edged tools. I judge all knives against my first Mora and its quality. Now, over 60 years later, I still own and use Moras and love the idea of this Companion Heavy Duty. It has a thicker blade and larger handle and is designed for hard field use, including batoning. For under $20 there is no better knife (IMO) in this price range (or even much higher) that will maintain its edge or perform as well. The Companion HD is the same exact knife as the Mora Robust High Q (not to be confused with the Robust Trade knife, they are different) except for color of handle, but that knife has been discontinued. Please note that if you have small hands, the H.D. might seem a little large for you ( more palm swell in the handle) and perhaps the regular Companion might suit you better. I have one and it is tough as nails, lighter and more controllable than this larger cousin. The pics show the H.D. next to the Robust High Q so you can see they are the same dimensions and I added pics so you can compare the differences in the Regular Companion and this H.D. The Esee Laser Strike was added as a reference for size comparison. For the price of that Esee, you could buy the Mora Companion HD, and a Bahco Laplander folding saw, and a decent Marbles Hatchet and still have money left over. You dont have to spend alot of money for great quality in an awesome knife. UPDATE 7/22. Ive had time to put this knife to some use and although I still rate it as a 5 Star knife, I find that I prefer the regular Companion MG over this one. I just cannot seem to get used to the excessive palm swell in the handle while while the MG is comfortable and feels like it is an extension of my hand. I guess the H.D. might be better suited to large hands. Just personal preference.

There must be a bad batch of knives out there during mass production. Contacted Amazon about my knife being dull and they shipped out anothe which was razor sharp right out of the box. Now I am ready for the field. Every review says this knife is remotely perfect save for the spine which could be easily modified. Definitely dull out of the box and embarrassingly enough could barely cut thru paper, rather ripped at it instead. So many stand by this knife and I got the heavy duty to help with the Batoning but I will have to sharpen it first? Come on Morakniv what gives?
