NOW L-lysine 500 mg, 250 Capsules

I take this everyday because I get cold sores. When my son was first born I decided to start donating my breast milk. But if you take the rx to get rid of your cold sores you can’t donate that milk for up to a week after you stop the rx. With the lysine I can donate while taking it, so super safe (according to my dr and the human milk bank) to take while pregnant nursing. I also double up the dosage when I’m getting a cold sore and the healing time is cut down so much!

I have been using Lysine for over 20 years to prevent cold sores. I eat a lot of sunflower seeds and it seems they can cause sores. It could be coffee and tea also. While I don’t know the complete reason for my cold sores Lysine helps. I take it at night. I like the capsules. They are easier to swallow than the larger regular pills.

Be aware you may not get what you think you ordered. Been ordering and taking these for several years as capsules, which have helped to greatly reduce cold sores. Last shipment was tablets instead of capsules even though the pictures here clearly show capsules. Didn’t think it would matter much, but within a week I had a severe cold sore outbreak. The difference in absorption or metabolizing temporarily affected the effectiveness in my case.

I think it would be nice if the capsules had a color, even 1 side. Since it seems all the supplements are clear capsules hard to portion them into a pill box and knowing that youve got all you need...lysine looks like the magnesium/potassium and the biotin as well, and even the brain stuff.

I bought this for a friend who had cold sores and he took some at the beginning of an outbreak and he says it went away in 3 days before blowing up to uncontrollable proportions. This is great. I have seen his bad days adn they are pretty bad. The situation usually doesnt go away for like 3 or 4 weeks but with this it went away in 3-5 days max. Since taking these he has also felt more hope and started a new diet. You have to take away l-arginine from your diet some way to help with the cold sores. So he has reduced this , you cant eliminate it completely because the arginine is an essential amino acid and your body needs it. The lysine, decreases arginine Ive read so it helps keep the cold sores at bay. Im glad it helped my friend, he was going through some tough times because of it. Try it, you never know. He has reported no side effects.

This has done WONDERS for clearing up my skin! Im a 30 y/o female and have been dealing with some very persistent hormonal acne, particularly tiny white bumps/inflamed pores all over my face. They also do not have any taste it after taste to them. If do get sores in my mouth I will up my dosage for a few days and the sores will quickly heal. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who gets lots of canker sores. Note - my 12 year old daughter also gets canker sores and I have given this to her and it has helped her as well. I have found it is best to take 2 pills daily in order to keep from getting sores.

When I search for NOW L Lysine 1000 mg it quickly comes up with a bottle that says 1000 mg. But when you click on it, it goes to the writing and it is changed into L Lysine 500 mg. I had this on auto ship but now have cancelled that order. I tried 2 times to talk to technical assistance and thought I had this corrected. But I got caught again. I do like the 1000 as that is the dosage the doctor had recommended for us. So for the price, it is more expensive because you are getting just half of what you think you are getting. If you want 1000 mg, you must take 2 tablets instead of just one.
