Like another user said, this will shed glass fibers if you decide to open it to look at it so be careful. BUT its a full glass mat so it should not burn and should smother a fire out and it is going to be way easier to clean up than a fire extinguisher. Have not had a reason to use it yet (they say to dispose of it after use for some reason, not sure why) but plan on keeping it in the shop for welding accidents

This is a good quality fire blanket. Hopefully I will never need to use it but its great to have in the home just in case.

And I hope I wont have to. But its a fair size and easy to put up wherever.

New -- to us -- house has a huge gas cooktop in the kitchen. It kinda looks commercial. Which is super cool, but theres no commercial overhead fire extinguisher system. This fire blanket gives us another level of protection to the fire extinguisher. Another way to handle a grease fire. Easy to install with a nail or picture hanger, in our case in a storage cabinet at edge of the kitchen. Operation would be fast and easy. All seems good quality. No issues. Hope the picture helps you.

I am glad I finally got one. I think this is something great to have on hand but never use.

PROS: - Its less of a mess to clean up than a chemical extinguisher. CONS: - There should be a warning on the outside of the case regarding the glass splinters. I had opened the case, pulled-out the blanket, and unfolded it (for review purposes), then folded it back up and put it away. Immediately thereafter I started to notice tingling on and around my hands. Upon close inspection of the skin of my hands, I noticed small, very thin slivers of glass fibers all over my hands. I quickly ran to the sink, lathered-up and washed my hands twice for almost a minute. The sensation was less painful but I could still feel the minuscule needles poking at me. What else could I do? I had no choice but to deal with it and went to sleep. Thank goodness I didnt feel anything else on my hands the next morning. Needless to say-- I will NEVER open that blanket again except for an emergency, and even then Ill use a chemical fire extinguisher first, which I just ordered today.

Thankfully, I have never yet had to use this product, but I like how compact it is and it is easy to store/keep on hand for emergencies.

Im sure this blanket has a fire suppression use, but as others have stated, this product is made out of fiberglass, which can cause cancer and cannot be handled with bare hands. That should be made clear on the website. You cannot use this in your house, especially if you have children and pets, and I dont know why the label says it is safe to put it on children and pets. I returned it.

We keep these in our emergency kit. Luckily we haven’t had to use them but I feel safer having these in my kit. They hardly take up any space.
