If youve been away from Pokémon for a while like I have, this is the best time to jump back in. Pokemon sun breathes a huge revitalization back into the series, with new features like the ride pager and a breathtaking new region. The new graphical updates in Sun are miles ahead of X and Y and make them look bad in comparison (in a good way)! On top of all the new and shiny, you have the classic pokemon series with brand new animations that are absolutely phenomenally animated. While the post game may be slightly lacking, and the S.O.S battles need a little work, this title will get you hours and hours of game time, and provide you with a new interesting story and take on the pokemon world!

What can I say? Great new addition to the Pokemon line. Ive been playing these games since Red/Blue first arrived and I had started to get a little weary of the same formula. Now, Im not one to suggest that GameFreak/Nintendo changed it up greatly, but it was a very pleasant discovery to learn that this game had changed the rather predictable pattern of the past games. The new features are pretty awesome and as a pokemon fan, it was a lot of fun. If youve never played a pokemon game and want to, either this or Moon would be a great starting point. Hours of fun. If youre like me and have played all the previous pokemon games, you can look forward to some well-thought and cleverly designed features that really are enchanting and add new play-ability to the franchise.

Played this when I was still a teen and I liked it, worth getting instead of the newer pokemon games so I might even go back to collect the older pokemon games just to play them/feel like a kid again. The story was good (can barely remember alot of it but I remember replaying the game alot). Some characters were memberable some werent, dialogue is the same as the older games/newer ones. Setting and new pokemon were fantastic to me but of course some of those things werent.

While I grew up with the original 1st Generation Pokémon games, I had lost interest in the series just after Gen. 3. This was around the time I headed off to college, so I didn’t have as much time for video games as I did while in high school. Fast forward to the 20th anniversary of Pokémon and the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon. There were plenty of legendary Pokémon being given out at the time, so I found it was as good a time as any to get back into the series. A lot had changed since I left, and Pokémon Sun carried over plenty of these changes. I appreciated a lot of these tweaks, including the removal of HMs and unlimited-use TMs. And while adjusting the “experience share” to give experience to all the Pokémon in my team made the game a little easier, it also reduced the amount of grind that I’d need to perform to progress. Additionally, the online capability of these newer games meant that I could easily fill out my Pokédex without having to track down a friend who had all the Pokémon I was missing. I’ll also admit that the “Alola variant” of many Gen 1 Pokémon was a nice touch of modified nostalgia. However, there were some things that I found a little lackluster or irritating. While the story was pretty good, there wasn’t much to do after I completed the game, other than to complete the Pokédex. The fact that there wasn’t some form of a National Dex for all the legendaries I had gained through gift codes was a bit disappointing, as there was no impetus for me to truly “collect them all.” And while the Z-move mechanic was a neat and flashy addition, having to sit through the animation for them each and every time I used them became tedious by the end. An enjoyable adventure, despite a few minor weaknesses, I give Pokémon Sun 4.0 stars out of 5.

Ive been a Pokémon fan since Gen 1 and this game is one of best ones in my opinion. The story is immersive, theres plenty of content to play through, and its a visually stunning game overall. I am in love with this game and would love future Pokémon games to be of this caliber. The only things I noticed that irked me were during double battles theres a bit of lag. The frame rate drops noticeably. Also, theres some slow loading time during screen transitions. However, both of these things werent bad enough that it hindered the gameplay so its cool with me. Overall I would definitely recommend this game to old as well as new players. Theres plenty of content and fun to be found in the Alola region.

By far the best Pokemon Game since the originals. I own two 3ds and since I bought both sun and moon I run them on both. The graphics cause the original 3ds to lag some, however theyre still amazing graphics and great games! I also really love the new regional variants they introduced here. I havent beat the games just yet, because Ive also been working but I look forward to playing the end game as well, after having heard good things about it as well! Minor downside if you ask me is the tutorial (wish there was an option to skip or give a condensed version) and cut scenes are a tad on the long side. However, they are enduring to the story lines!

Nintendo must have figured the series was getting stale because they really made this one different from the others. Removing some of the constants from previous games (gyms) and adding new stuff (pokepelgo and island scan) make it feel fresh. This feels more like a general RPG that just another pokemon game. My only con (I would deduct half a star if I could) is the fact they make some things too easy. For example, now it tells you in the fight what moves will be effective before you use it. That and some other stuff is a bit hand holdy but I guess they are hoping for unfamiliar players that started with Pokemon Go would begin the handheld series with Sun and Moon.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are both fantastic games! Theres not enough that can be said about it. I came into Pokemon Moon as someone who knew of the series and enjoyed the card game when i was younger, but hadnt played any of the previous installments of the video game. So this was brand new for me, but i was able to pick it up very quickly and had a blast playing through the game. Replay value is another thing that this game has tons of. After completing the main story, there are post game missions to be completed and of course the goal of capturing all the pokemon in your pokedex. Overall its a great game and I highly recommend either version to anyone who is a pokemon fan or a fan of rpg games in general.

Its Pokémon. The goods: new monsters, fashion stuff is back, HMs are replaced by actually riding Pokémon (no wasted moves, no HM slave, and you get near animations), the pokepelago is a great little side feature that lets you get items, beef up states, increase happiness, etc.; you can also beef up a Pokémon’s IV stars (for combat, not breeding). The downsides: team Skull is the worst team yet, imo, more dumb than menacing; the world isn’t as compelling to explore as in X/Y; most importantly, no national dex.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are a blast, and heres why I say that: 1) A fresh, mature, in-depth story and characters youd expect from Final Fantasy or Mass Effect. 2) Fun and challenging battles. Gone is the lack of difficulty of Gen 6; the level curve for trainers is higher than any other game in the series and the AI is absolutely ruthless. Dont expect to sweep through entire teams just because your moves are super effective, you need legitimate tactics to get through the game 3) Changes to staple series mechanics. No more HMs taking up precious move slots on your pokemon, nor having five good pokemon and one HM slave. No more traditional gym battles, instead adding in Totem pokemon, essentially beefed-up bosses who use the new ally mechanic to double team you. All of this along with a great soundtrack, Pokemon Sun is a great game. The only negatives I would add are there arent many new pokemon, and the protagonist often smiles through intense cutscenes like an idiot.
