> 3 dayThe PS5 has a less than adequate storage capacity for the modern gaming age. Considering that the average game size is between 50-100gb, and there are some even more massive (call of duty >200gb’s) expanding the storage was absolutely necessary.

For my first time adding this memory to my PS5 it took me about a minute to do it. And the time that the video lasted. This is an easy upgrade to do.

13-04-2025This was super easy to install in my PS5. The only trick was sliding the cover off the PS5, which I watched a video to make sure I pulled in the correct direction to make sure I didnt break any tabs or anything. Other than that, its one screw to open the very obvious expansion port cover, then you pop the stick in and move another screw to hold it in place. Sony clearly intends for people to make this one simple surgery on their system; everything else is hidden from view behind other panels. When I turned the PS5 on, it recognized and formatted the new hard drive, and it had 1.01TB storage on it.

Greater than one weekI wanted to add an NVMe SSD to install certain games, like Star Citizen, that need FAST storage. This does the trick. It was easy to install, fast to format and Star Citizen now performs rather well. I also upgraded the RAM to 32GB of better RAM than the stock 16, so hard to say how much this directly helped. Overall it was a vast improvement. I appreciate the heatsink to improve longevity as well as the PRO versions having faster access times and longer life through TB written. An excellent product, and well worth the investment to upgrade my system.
