I bought these monitors for my mom so that she could have a duel monitor set up, but when I went to go set it up, it would not pick up the HDMI cable. I tried both ports and a different HDMI cable, but neither of them worked. When I turn them on, they just says, No signal and immediately go into power saver mode. It looks like there is a stupid feature where you cannot access the menu on the monitors unless the monitor has a signal of some sort, so I cannot go in and manually change the input. I have reached out to support, so hopefully theyll be able to help me. Update, I was able to get in touch with support and they were able to figure out the issue. Apparently, if you want to mount these, you need to use the spacers, or else the HDMI will not go in all the way, pretty stupid if you ask me.

For what I paid, the monitor will suffice. My expectations were mediocre and they were met. I wanted a screen to be used only for an output from my laptop via HDMI. Just any basic screen at a low cost that could do at least 1600x900. I was very happy to find an HDMI cable included. So many monitors do not include this, I ordered a cable from Amazon assuming this would be no different. Bonus point for not cutting this corner. My one complaint is that the viewing angle is very narrow. With only the slightest bit of angle, the screen becomes very yellowish. I thought at first that I needed to adjust color temperature or something, but figured out its because I wasnt looking at the screen at dead even 90 degree angle. Not a big deal for what I wanted, but if had to do over Id spend more and get the wide viewing angle version of this monitor.

This is an alright monitor, especially for the price I paid. I cant say I was just blown away but I cant say it is horrible either. The speakers arent the best, once you hit about 50 they dont get any louder, even though it goes to 100. The screen quality is good, though mine has issues toward the top with about a quarter of an inch strip all the way across that is damaged, but it doesnt hinder the usage. I figured it had something to do with how it was shipped or something. Im not too sure about it. But it works to replace the small TV that had gone out before this purchase.

I bought two of these screens since I work from home, I was really happy to install both of them and they booted up easily. However upon inspecting one screen I noticed one tiny dead pixel, and at first it didn’t bother me…but then it started to…then I noticed the next day that my second screen also had another dead pixel in the middle of the screen…I use this for work so it’s nothing too serious…however I was disappointed that buying them brand new…I would’ve thought they wouldn’t have any dead pixels. I debated on returning them…but it was just too much hassle. Getting these under $75 was more than I can ask for and honestly the pixels…I can ignore. If I was using this for gaming I would have returned it. But for work…it’s just fine.

Cheaply built and feels like it will fall apart. Screen quality is not bad, but overall it’s not great. I know it’s only 80$ but you can get a lot better one used.

I bought this for my home because my work requires me to have two screens. Rather, I should say I’m not required to have two screens, but trying to do the job that I do without two screens makes it very difficult. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money and I’m only looking at black-and-white map type things. It’s perfectly functional, didn’t have to program anything, didn’t need any special cords or attachments that I already didn’t have I can’t write a rave review about the picture quality because it sometimes seems like you’re viewing the picture through a window screen. However, it has entirely served its purpose , I have a built in desk area that would not accommodate to 27 inch monitors like I have at work and this fits nicely in the space. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase.

This monitor is well under $100 and is great if youre in need of a high-refresh monitor while on a tight budget. However, this is still a TN monitor. And despite the wide view angle label, this monitors viewing angles are very limited. Looking at the screen at any angle besides straight-on will result in the pictures and colors getting distorted. Also, dont try to disassemble the stand once the base and arm are connected. Its impossible to remove them without hurting yourself. Great if youre on a tight budget, but if you can, spend a couple extra bucks for an IPS or VA display.

This review is for the “(Sceptre 20 1600 x 900 75Hz LED Monitor 2X HDMI VGA Built-in Speakers, sRGB 99% Machine Black (E209W-16003RT Series) aka “20” 75Hz Wide Viewing Angle” monitor. I got 2 of these for $115/ea. It was difficult to return them and go with two Samsung 1080p IPS 22” monitors instead. For some reason, the non-IPS screens (like these) have a hard time displaying an even black/gray screen. The pictures with the grayscale test have my very high-quality laptop monitor below them as a reference in each picture for what the black/gray screen SHOULD look like. The monitor is on the top of each picture and my laptop is below it. The laptop screen is mirrored on the Spectre monitor above it. These exhibit pretty bad “ghosting.” To be fair, it is not as bad in real life as the camera makes the monitor look. But I still found it too distracting to work with. Because the screen is always darker at the top than the bottom (regardless of viewing angle), it can be difficult to see vertical scroll bars because it fades from normal at the top to washed-out at the bottom. Googling information can also be difficult because the color change of a site you have already been to on Google is more difficult to see at the bottom of the screen than at the top. It is also harder to work in Excel because the grid lines are not an even shade across the entire screen. It is not horrible like the HP V20 HD+ 19.5-inch monitor. But it is still not great. I found it too distracting to work with as a home office monitor. There should be 6 pictures showing the different shades of black/gray mirrored off my laptop onto the Spectre 20” monitor. The monitor in the picture also has a bad pixel a few inches from the top left corner that you can see in the darkest pictures as green. I personally do not take off points because my specific product/item has a flaw/defect. Even the best manufacturers have products that pass quality control. So I simply mention it and let readers decide for themselves if it is too common of a problem for them to decide not to purchase it. I only give bad reviews for “systemic problems” that affect all of a product line like this. There are many different options for changing the brightness, tint, color, sharpness, etc. But unfortunately, because the screen is not even, if the top looks good the bottom looks bad and vice versa. On the good side it does have some really nice features for the money. I will miss the dual HDMI ports and the speakers even though they’re not very good. But this allows you to plug in a Roku stick and watch/listen to TV while working on the other monitor if you have two (see picture). I also personally liked the size better than the 22” Samsung 1080p monitors I’m keeping. Two 22” monitors are a little big for my very small desk even when VESA mounted. The Spectre monitors are also VESA mountable which was another reason I purchased them. They come with screws that create a gap of about ¾” between the monitor and a VESA mount (see picture). I’m not exactly sure why they did this, but it does make it easier to access cables in the back and it was not an inconvenience for me. There are many different options for changing the brightness, tint, color, sharpness, etc. But unfortunately, because the screen is not even, if the top looks good the bottom looks bad and vice versa. If you don’t have much money and these are on sale for $120 or less, it might be a monitor worth considering. But the one I opened to try/test had a defective pixel so I had to return it anyways. And I never opened the 2nd one because I decided I just couldn’t work with this monitor for most likely many years. The Samsung’s look fantastic straight out of the box without having to mess with screen adjustments. And I got them on sale from Amazon for $140/ea. For my needs, as a home office monitor(s), the Samsung’s are much better and worth the extra $25/ea. But the Samsung 22 IPS monitors are normally $165+/ea. It would have been a more difficult choice if I had to pay full price for the Samsung’s.
