I had been looking at this Portable Hard Drive for several months, since I wanted the durability of a LaCie portable hard drive but not the high price. This hard drive is exactly the level of convenience and value that I need to store all my archived files and media data on my computer. When I hold the hard drive in my hand, I cant help but feel the security in knowing that the drive is protected by hard plastic and soft rubber. Most of all, the convenient cable storage assures me that I will never need to worry about packing a male-male USB cable with me wherever I go.

This external hard drive has worked great! A great price and exactly what I needed. I pulled all my photos, music, and movies off of my laptop to save memory and they easily fit on to this 1 terabit external hard drive with plenty of memory to spare. The USB cord that comes with it does not clip in as well as shown in the photo. The tiny black plastic clips come right off. But thats relatively inconsequential overall. It is well constructed with a sturdy hard plastic outer frame. Update: I liked this so much, I purchased a second one for my wife. The hard drive is compatible with both Windows and Apple Operating Systems so no worries there either. Hope this review was helpful! Let me know if you have any questions.

»Ive been using this drive at work and home and am very happy with its performance and design. I have the 1TB model which when formatted in Windows using NTFS ended up being 932GBs. »The outer casing consists of hard plastic and the green silicone material you can see in the photos. The green silicone is actually what is surrounding the hard drive inside, protecting it from drops and is how the suspension system works. The green silicone also has a slot that goes all the way around which is used to hold onto the included USB 3.0 cable using 2 clips. The 2 plastic pieces simply screw into each other on each side using 4 screws. The USB port has a flap in the silicone to keep it closed and free of dust when not in use. There are also 2 openings on the bottom plastic part where 2 green strips come through and provide grip on whatever surface you put it on, preventing slips. Simple and effective design for protection, grip and convenience. »There is no external powered needed for this, power it taken from the USB port on whatever device you are using it with »Copying to and from the drive was speedy and I the speeds I received when running a speed test were about what I expected for a traditional hard drive over USB 3.0. I attached a photo of my results which were 120.0MB read and 115.8MB write for sequential writes. Im not sure if Silicon Power wanted me to do this, but I did it anyways, I unscrewed the 4 screws to see what drive was inside. I know Silicon Power does not manufacture hard drives like Western Digital and Seagate do. I was hoping to find a brand name from one of the very few large drive manufacturers and I am happy to report I did. Inside is a 1TB standard Seagate laptop drive. Not some cheap white label drive, a quality brand drive. Good choice. »I have not tested the ability to survive a drop because I am actually using this on a daily basis so I am being slightly cautious. I am however throwing it into a backpack filled with things and plopping it down on a desk multiple times a day, you dont want to treat any standard hard drive with moving parts too terribly, but so far so good, no problems with performance or any strange issues. »Overall this has been a great drive for me and I recommend it to anyone looking for a more durable external drive to take on the go, if anything changes I will update this review in the future. *I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review, I hope this review was helpful.

Well it looks cool and i like how the usb cable is included and slips to the side of the case. Its small and thats nice too. Really cant say to much about it as have not used it much, but in order to enter their contest to win an ipad air you have to write a review so here it is. LOL - Anyhow did copy 284 gigs of data from an old drive and it took about 3.5 to 4 hours to copy all that - might be because the computer copying it was an older computer. It has a 3 year warranty but am hoping it lasts alot longer than that. Really have nothing bad to say about it so far.

A very good device to store tons of games, movies, tv shows, music, or whatever media youd like. I have so much stored on it and yet its not even halfway full. The USB 3.0 makes data transfers very fast(as long as you have the 3.0 jacks). The only thing that I have found that is wrong with this product is that the little black things that hold the USB cable come off very easily. They can go back on, but they are easily lost. All in all 5/5 stars! Edit: Have had this for almost a year now and still working good as ever.

Got this put all of my stuff I wanted on it worked great and 2 months later it will not work and you can not get ahold of customer service USA or online do not buy this! UPDATE, I have received support and now this product is working great would give 5 star but a little frustrating it crashed after 2 months. You have to eject this everytime I wasn’t aware of that w the usb. You eject it at the bottom of your computer right side by the clock area. Hope this helps

So i was looking to back up my computer one day to reset and went to back up on my hard drive and guess what hard drive was broken and appeared to be dropped. Boom all that data just gone. I wasnt going to let that happen again so i was looking for a really tuff and rugged hardrive. Something that could take a beating and be some what water resistant . This was buy have the best thing i was looking for at the best price i could find. I use macbook pros and this hard drive was very easy to set up and start backing up files. A60: - Its Fast! - Rugged design, hard plastic casing with soft corner to absorb impact on drop. - Water resistance, which mean splash proof. I did not submerge it in water for this test. - I have dropped this a few times and my child has gotten a hold of it and still works great I use it about every 2 weeks without any wrinkles.

I bought this drive almost 5 years ago. It served me well for quite a bit of that. However, there are flaws in its design. Before anything else, it’s the fact it uses a USB-A port for its I/O. While it was made prior to the introduction of USB-C, it just feels awkward to use that. Additionally, it can’t be used with USB-C computers via a USB-C to USB-A cable. It has to be used via an adapter.
