> 24 hourPROS: Dr. Suzanne Humphries, MD recommends Nutribiotics Sodium Ascorbate and this Sufficient C brand for dosing vitamin c when ill (and her specialty is reducing issues relating to whooping cough). When kids are well, I give them maintenance amounts of just the sodium ascorbate daily. But when they are sick, they just dont have the desire to drink SA powder (tastes like baking soda dissolved in water). What I do is I use the SA, but I also add some of this Sufficient C and they clamor for their vitamin c now. The peach flavor is really nice. I have no experience re the efficacy of the product as we primarily use it in combination with the Nutribiotic Sodium Ascorbate. We have good effects in general with the vitamin c products we use! Since Dr. Humphries recommends it, she is very reliable it seems in her recommendations. CONS: I do have to say though, they need to scale back on the intensity of the sweetness. The sweet and flavor is nice but if you take the full amount recommended on the container, it is so cloyingly sweet I can barely stomach it. Using this stuff as a flavorful vitamin c source helps us get the other kind of vitamin c into us without the drama! But as it is formulated, I could never stand to use it in the full dose because it is like 50x too sweet at that rate. It is VERY expensive for a jar. VERY. I can get 5 POUNDS of Nutribiotic sodium ascorbate for about $80 and this is $25 for 125 grams!. It also gets very hard in the jar if you dont use it up quickly so you have to scrape it a lot and shake the jar as it doesnt stay loose. A family couldnt even begin to start to use this exclusively as their vitamin c supplement, and especially not when sick when your c demands are that much higher! It would be like $500 a cold/family. ---- However, if I didnt keep a small jar of this in the house, I would barely be able to get vitamin c into them at times they need it (when sick and not interested in drinking it, and you cant reason with a sick kid and you cant sneak anything into them). It also encourages them to stay hydrated as they will drink a gallon of water sick even if it has a 1/4 tsp of this stuff in it! My kids call it affectionately peach stuff. They are 3 and 6.
