Taylor of Old Bond Street Peppermint Shave Cream (5.3 oz)

Having been using this shaving cream for years now. Best price has been with Amazon.

Ive used a few other shaving creams in the last few months and several more a few years ago. Lately, Ive been needing to shave both my beard *and* scalp to deal with a ringworm infection Ive had for most of my life (using over-the-counter creams also available here on amazon). In a side-by-side comparison with this and other Taylor of Old Bond Street (almond and sandalwood years ago), Edge (aloe variety, green can which everyone seems to suggest as the best), and Proraso (standard and another green variety, also years ago), none of them have been as satisfying to use as this stuff. I do wish to warn folks that this is very likely *not* best used in the wintertime as others may be quick to note. The temperatures outside my house are relatively warm as of my writing this review, so it works great right now, but numbing in winter might make one colder and uncomfortable. That cooling sensation is pretty extreme with this stuff. I personally find that numbing feeling to really make for a satisfying shave and Ive never felt anything like this in all my years of shaving. To me, its awesome! ...but truthfully, this might be a matter of preference. The only competitor I havent tried yet is the caffeine shaving cream from Pacific Shaving Company, but I doubt itll quite beat this stuff - its really special! Ill update this review if I happen to like that one better, but otherwise, you can assume this remains to be the best for me.

Not my favorite but a nice scent, about as strong as the sandalwood. It works just like all of the other TOBS, so no complaints. I havent asked my girlfriend for an option yet as Ive only used it a couple of times and didnt see her when it was fresh... I suppose that will be the final test to see if its a keeper...

I am new to wet shaving and using a DE safety razor. After 2 shaves, the smell of peppermint is wonderful but not overbearing. The tingling sensation is felt on my face and feels nice, which I do not think it is irritating my skin at all. I use this with Proraso pre-shave cream for sensitive skin, Wikinson Sword Classic DE razor blades, alum block afterwards and Nivea post shave balm for sensitive skin. The shaving cream has not dried out for me, like others have stated, and it lathers up well with a bowl & brush. I do want to try other scents from TOBS. ONLY negative as others have experienced: mine was only about half full.

I just used for the first time. This Shaving Cream is excellent. I used it w/ a shaving brush, oil, and safety blade. This is a pretty major upgrade over prior cream i used. It lathers very well, just note the brush will easily pick up more than you need. Good consistency and easy to make an even coat. The scent is as advertised and smells pretty close to pepper mint. My favorite part is a very pleasant tingle after so your face just feels fresh and clean. I havent tried every shaving cream but im putting easy into top three.

This is my favorite TOBS shave cream yet. It is creamy and foams up well just like any other of the TOBS shave creams. blows any can cream out of the water. My favorite part is the cooling sensation on your face from the peppermint. I look forward to shaving in the mornings with this cream. Its a great way to wake up. For those of you that have not used a shave cream like this before you will need a bowl and badger brush. It will not work well if you just rub it on your face.

This is a very, in you your face, wake you up in the morning, feeling refreshed kinda peppermint. I love it. Huge peppermint shaving cream fan, ie proraso. This is easy lather to build like most tobs. The only other scent that tops this is the marzipan/almond/cherry like a cella. This gives great slickness and protection. Little goes a long way. I Would buy again.

Hands down best stuff Ive tried. Its a bit on the pricey side, but worth every penny. Leaves a cooling mint effect on your skin thats soothing and never too strong. After I switched to this, found I dont need aftershave anymore. I recommend it to anyone who shaves, but especially those that shave with double edge safety razor like myself.
