Years back I got into shaving with a straight razor because I have sensitive skin and shaving made my one I break out. And I tried lots of shave soaps. No really. Lots. Taylor of old bond st - everything they make- smells amazing. A smoother shave than most. And clean skin after. The peppermint I thought would be refreshing coming off a cold winter and with spring rolling around. I wasn’t wrong.

Used this the day I got it. The smell and feel of this on my face was a pleasant surprise. It does not take much to load your brush so go gentle on that part. Besides that will be buying this one again.

Ive only shaved with it once since receiving it in the mail. However, even with the first try I could already tell how great it was. I had been using proraso for the last year and a half, and as soon as I started using this, it lathered up so much easier, and made a thicker creamier lather than I ever got with proraso. Plus, the peppermint smells so good, and the tingling on my fave felt so nice, and refreshing. Highly recommend to anybody!

Theres a cool breeze in town. This shaving cream is so cool and soothing and smells like Christmas. Some people worry about smelling like a candy cane but to them I say this is shaving cream, not cologne. Unless you drab it on like a psychopath you will shortly smell like normal human male. I have now tried almost all of Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving creams and the peppermint is my favorite by far. IT is super thick and a little bit can get a thick lather for three shaves easily. The scent is amazing and the cool soothing sensation almost makes shaving a delight (almost). For the record, I do like some othe rTaylor of Old Bond products too, including: St Jermyn Almond Mr. Taylor Rose Coconut But this is by far the best. Take the risk, go with peppermint.

First off for perspective, I switched to traditional shaving with a safety razor & brush for well over a year now; very happy to have made that decision & would definitely encourage folks to try it. Theres a difference in initial acquisition cost but in the long run I feel that it is far cheaper & better for your face (i.e. you can pick up blades for 10-14 cents apiece in most cases. So a pack of 100 blades for 10-15 bucks, with 4-5 shaves per blade, will last you a long time. I shave every day, so a pack of 100 will last me a year & a half). Now for this particular cream. I have the Taylor Sandalwood Shaving Cream & was very pleased with the results. So I decided to try and pick up another Taylor cream. I was drawn to the Peppermint in a novelty sort of way; I didnt know what to expect, but I was willing to give it a try. After a couple of uses I am very pleased with the results. When you first apply it to your face, it takes a few moments before you really feel the icey peppermint effect. The smell is wonderful & enjoyable. Generally, I find shaving creams based in England to be very enjoyable (I also use Geo F. Trumpers) when compared to American based creams. Soaps are not my style, but for each man hell have his own preference. As it stands, would recommend the Taylor of Old Bond Street Peppermint Shave Cream to anyone.

This is my favorite TOBS shave cream yet. It is creamy and foams up well just like any other of the TOBS shave creams. blows any can cream out of the water. My favorite part is the cooling sensation on your face from the peppermint. I look forward to shaving in the mornings with this cream. Its a great way to wake up. For those of you that have not used a shave cream like this before you will need a bowl and badger brush. It will not work well if you just rub it on your face.

After trying this, I personally think that it is a little over rated and a little over priced. I will not purchase this again, though I do not regret buying it and may consider trying some of the other products in their lineup. Also, this is a cream, and I am more of a soap person come to find out. The Good: First of all, this stuff absorbs A TON of water, which means a small dab will make A LOT of lather. I love the smell of peppermint, and the scent is good on this product. The lather that it does make is very thick and provides cushion. The Bad: Though peppermint smells great, I found it to be a little irritating on my skin. If you have sensative skin, you may want to stay away. I can not seem to get the lather slick enough for my taste. So between that and the peppermint oil causing some irritation I can easily get razor burn while using this product that I do not experience with other soaps and creams. Now since I like shaving soaps better I did try to mix some of this cream with one of my cheaper no frills soaps that I have. And WOW, that is now the way I use this stuff. I lather up my brush with the soap, then I put a dab of this on there. This makes what I call an Ultra lather, and thus ends up both thick and full like the cream aspect, but also makes it slick like a soap. With that combination I get no razor burn and the peppermint oil is not irritating my skin. This makes it useable so it wont go to waste. However, for the price there are some really nice soaps out there that do not require mixing in another product to make it the way I like it. As with any kind of soap / cream shaving supply, the usage and review takes into account my preferences and experiences with the product. I know that hardness of water will effect which types of soaps and creams you will like. SO as they say, your mileage may vary.

IMO Taylor of Old Bond Street makes some of the best shave cream products on the market. The Peppermint scent is one of my favorites, but I have tried many of them and there are few I would not re-order.

This is the first shave cream that I have bought. I have subsisted on shave SOAPS until now. However, I am thoroughly pleased with the results of this cream. It has a wonderfully peppermint-y scent that does not cross over into smelling medicine-y like some other soaps or creams. It also does a great job of moisturizing and protecting my face while proving a smooth shave surface for my DE razor. Just a little bit (an amount about the size of my pinky nail) works for a whole shave, so this tub will last months! One side effect, that I dont mind at all, is the cool sensation that it puts on your face. Almost like a menthol feel. I think it feels great, but wanted to make sure that other knew ahead of time. PROS: Great product with a great scent! CONS: Some might not like the cooling menthol feel. Final Say: Definitely no hesitation in recommending this product to any wet shaver.
