You are probably looking at this and assuming it will be heavy. Youre right, but its even heavier than that. Its just very, very heavy. The heaviest substance most of us come into contact with on a daily basis is steel. This is over twice as heavy as that. Theres really no way to describe this without experiencing it yourself. If you want to get technical, there are a few elements that are heavier (okay, denser), but they are significantly more expensive. Pure gold is 19.3 g/cc3, and pure tungsten is 19.2. This cube is a tungsten alloy to make it less brittle and its about 18.1. My next purchase will be the sphere.

A very well machined cube of tungsten, and of course, extremely heavy for the size!

Perfect product. Astonished by its elegant surface, color, and also its stunning weight. If you are looking for some table decorations, this is the perfect one

It’s small. It’s a cube. It’s heavy. The only downside is that now I need the 4-inch version.

Yes it is, strangely, very heavy for its size--a scientific curiosity. And it is nicely machined--an attractive objet dart for your desk.

Best was opening the box - it comes in a four-and-a-half inch cardboard container that is satisfyingly heavy. On opening the box and removing the first layer of foam liner, the top to the cube is revealed and the realisation that all the mass of the package is concentrated in that smaller volume is wonderful - it was definitely the best way to show it off. The cube is beautifully finished with great precision. Absolutly no disappointment. One use might be as a fund raiser - wrap it in decorative paper, or make a wooden casket, and have people pay to guess the weight. They dont get to hold it unless they pay for a guess. At a well-attended event, word will spread that its worth a go. Split the take - between the closest guess (in grams) and your good cause. It might be a good idea to have an everyday object - a large tin of food with the gross weight given so that they have a comparison. It will only work once, of course, or people will remember the winning mass from last time. And dont tell anyone what is in the mystery package, or theyll go online to research the answer.

This block is so freaking cool! I leave on my work desk and its fun to watch people pick it up. Usually they ask if it lead. Thats when I tell them its tungsten and it weighs about the same as gold.

It may take a special kind of idiot to spend money on a hunk of metal, but if you are one of those idiots I highly recommend Tungsten.

This is a wonderful object to stare at, pick up and just feel amazed. Impossibly heavy. Great gift for a science buff.
