Unifi AP lite is a nice little access point to add to my network. I have the system in place, so it was just a simple plugging it into the switch. Ubiquiti Networks....You get an A+

I now have three of these in my home. They all work great.

So far it works nicely for the price. I would classify the setup as somewhat technical. If you have set up hardware enterprise routers or hardware firewalls. This should be no problem for you. If your computer experience is minimal and you use just apple products then you might want to avoid this. The signal is pretty good and it has dual band and 5ghz. If you use bluetooth a lot the 5 ghz is nice as blue tooth is on 2.4 ghz like the old wireless access points and routers. Which can lead to your wireless knocking out sometimes if not a lot. Will update if I have problems. So far though I am a happy customer.

I got this to improve the wi-fi signal to our den, which is on the far side of the house from my other AP, a Unifi AC-PRO. While the AC-PROs signal can easily reach the den, the problem was that some of the devices (older tablets, smart TV, smart speakers) didnt have enough power to send a signal back, and so I was getting slow, unreliable connections on some of those devices. Setup was pretty easy and straightforward. I used a wired connection via MoCA, and once I turned it on, it showed up in the UniFi Controller software. I simply adopted it and a couple of minutes later the clients automatically started connecting to it. Running a speed test shows the clients connection speed jumped from an average of 20-40Mbps, to well over 250Mbps. I read that the ceiling is the optimal way to mount these, but I just have mine sitting on top of our TV stand and it doesnt seem to affect the signal that much. I guess ceiling mounting would give me a few extra Mbps, but its not worth the hassle for me, Im happy with what I have now. In terms of configuration, I set the 5Ghz signal strength to medium and the 2.4Ghz signal strength to low. This means the signal is confined pretty much to the den, allowing devices to automatically connect to the PRO when outside the den, essentially making the devices connect to the closest AP at all times. Aesthetically speaking, it looks like a baby pro, meaning it has a pleasing space-age design and it doesnt take up much space.

This product was not a good match for me in many ways. The manufacturing appears excellent but the configuration interface was not user friendly and after attempting three different ways of connecting to my network I gave up and sent it back. Some of the prompts and information required during configuration were not intuitive (I have a couple decades in networking & IT). I got the impression that answering an ambiguous question in one way would send me down a path resulting in wasted time, frustration, and an unsuccessful result. The help provided did little to clarify the less than obvious question(s). I suspect there are those out there who will find this device intuitive and quick to set up on their network, it just wasnt me. Best of luck with this one on your network.
