The radio is fine and a decent price. It does not function on a trunk system so if your emergency services are using a trunk or digital system you will need a more advanced radio. I should have done more research before choosing which radio to purchase since I needed the more advanced model. That said, returning it was hassle free and the other radio is already being processed. Cant give it 5 stars since I never was able to really use it other than to listen into some HAM operators and the Weather Broadcasts.

There’s nothing like the original bearcat scanner. This one is a little difficult to program too many steps. I always have to look up on you tube when I’m going to program it.

This is a very good scanner. Reception is very good and you will have no problems if you live with in city limits or are a few miles from a repeater tower. It is also relatively easy to program frequencies into the scanner. The only cons for the product are that you can not program names in for your presets, meaning you will have to be vaguely familiar with the frequency to know who you are listening to. Also the scanner uses a lot of power so you have to charge or buy batteries frequently.

Also, this particular scanner, is not a digital scanner, like it is listed. It is analog. I am on able to pick up anything, in my area. TI just wish as a blind person that the blind erson could program the scanner without sighted help. I dont remember the brand name of the scanner but you can program it and it talks

My husband really likes this, after his old one finally died. He wasnt happy that he had to have me look up the frequencies online, but it was not difficult for me. He doesnt DO computers and doesnt like that everyone expects him to. Someone else may have gotten help from the public library, but its a done deal, now. We havent listened to it yet, so I dont know how it sounds, but it arrived quickly.

Nice little unit, worked as expected. The only comment is the programming of the unit was a pain in the a*&. I ended up using the computer / USB interface to program it. I had to learned the hard way to save my work on my computer before sending it to the scanner, and remember every time I added new channels I had to work off of the old setup / profile or I lost the channels I had already setup. Nice little option for the money. I would have given it five stars if the programming was easier. I never did get one channel programmed off the units keypad itself, and the instructions really didnt help me.

It is a good scanner, as all the Uniden scanners are. Has the close call feature, made for narrow band, and is easy to program from the keyboard. Unfortunately I have been unable to find the programming software on their website. It claims that you can download it but the link address has nothing for a BC75XLT. Maybe it is available somewhere else. I would give a 5 star rating if this software was available.

I purchased this model to replace an aging Radio Shack scanner I have to listen to military aircraft. I bought it in Nov, but didnt get to opening it until Jan. Upon trying to load the higher UHF frequencies I found out this model doesnt handle those frequencies. It was on the box, but I wish it was called out in the details here on Amazon. The fact I waited so long to open my return window had also close. And because most Police Departments have gone digital I cant even use it to listen to them.

Well built and feature rich. Interface is a bit clumsy and unfriendly but they fit a lot of features into this little guy so thats to be expected. Do check and police/fire frequencies in your area of interest to make sure they are included in the ranges this scanner is designed for.
