> 3 dayI did not think there would be that much difference in thermometers but there is! The things that make this thermometer superior are: The case is so easy to put on and off the thermometer. The most excellent part is that it flashes a light so you know when the temperature is registered and when you turn it on it does 3 different color light flashes so you know it is working well. This thermometer was a little bit more expensive but it was DEFINITELY worth it. I am going to give them for stocking stuffers this Christmas.

> 3 dayThe beep sound alert is barely audible. The other 2 thermometers worked fine. Something must be wrong with this particular one.

> 3 dayWhat are the nice if they sent the product and the battery wasn’t dead or/low?

> 3 dayTime will tell if this keeps ticking but it works very well so far and accurately provides readings for oral and armpit temperatures. It will do anal temperatures and does come with a pack of protective covers for such use. I already have an instant read anal baby thermometer that is much smaller by Vicks and use that. This would be just as good if required to use it in that manner though. Really helpful when your squirmy sick kids need an accurate reading quickly.

> 3 dayAdvantages of this thermometer is that it reads quickly (within 8 seconds) and the red yellow green display is instant feedback. Im assuming it is accurate but I haven’t tested it against another thermometer.

> 3 dayHuge display and is backlit. Cant beat the function of this thermometer. Price is affordable. This will last part the battery life Im sure. Wish I found this one first. I tried a cheap thermometer and only powered on and then failed to function. I ended up returning that one. Finally through lengthy search I found this. Very happy with it. Color variations and audible alert chime of elevated temperature. So easy to read temp in bright light or dark room. I highly recommend this item.

Greater than one weekThis Vicks SpeedRead thermometer is excellent. In my experience, it has been 100% accurate, reliable, readable and usable in the dark. ACCURACY: Compared to a professionally calibrated digital thermometer I use for work, this unit was consistently within .2 degrees of accuracy. When compared to several other types and brands of thermometers I have around the house, the Vicks SpeedRead was within .5F freedom degrees. USABILITY: Theres only one button. It is accurate for oral vitals on children who are awake and old enough not to squirm for 8 seconds. Kids can immediately tell if they have a fever by the color-coded readout. It is a good addition for a mobile first-aid kit as it comes with a rigid case and is somewhat durable. Youd better have long fingernails or a small flathead screwdriver to unlock it and pry off the back to change the battery (see photo). Dont forget to pick up probe covers, alcohol wipes and a spare CR1632 battery. CAVEAT EMPTOR: This thermometer uses a CR1632 battery NOT an LR44 as in the description! Before you open the packaging glance at the manufacturing date. Coin batteries last between 2-4 years in storage, and if its at the tail end of that span you may want to check pricing on the battery v. the price of the thermometer and decide if its more economical to send the thermometer back or buy a new battery. The thermometer I received had been manufactured less than 6 months prior.

> 3 dayIve had this a little less than 2 months and its already broken. It wont turn on. If i keep pushing it, eventually it will turn on. Also, I have a duplicate of this thermometer and if taking the temp on both within seconds of each other, I get a different result. If i take the temperature on this one and immediately repeat it , I get different results. I dont think its accurate and do not recommend.
