Wound up giving this to my sister. She says she is very happy with it, especially that it is quiet and has a low profile. It can also used with a screen to keep bugs out; this is a good feature. On the whole we are happy, but do have some complaints. It doesnt isolate the outside air as well as expected and is best removed from the window on cold nights. The foam blocks they include to seal air gaps are barely useable. We received a unit with a nonworking remote, however the manufacturer was great about helping us get a working replacement.

I bought this fan to use in my apartment as an odor extractor for the time I cook. Its the best decision ever! I put it in my living room window, since I dont have one in the kitchen, I turn it on when I start cooking and it pushes all the food outdoors out. Fully recommend!

The shims used to hold in window are worthless at best, fan works as advertised make sure you have a screened in window alot of gaps.

On really hot days this will push around hot air, and will not cool down the room by itself. However, you can raise your AC by a few degrees to get cool air in and exhaust out hot air. Vice versa on normal and cooler days its a great way to circulate cool air in the room. By no means is it a standalone AC unit, but Vornado is the best in regards to a whole-room breeze and does great at bringing in fresh air. On a few occasions, it made a weird noise high pitched spinning not even a week old but it seems to have stopped. Note that the temperature sensor is also strange. It does not gauge the temperature to your preferred indoor setting. Its basically At what point is the air outside too cold to bring in? It does not try to get the room to the level you specify, and the temperature controls on Amazon are vague in that regard for what it actually did.

I bought this about 2 years ago and its still going strong. My upstairs neighbors would always smoke cigarettes, marijuana, and other chemicals that would seep into and stink up my small apartment and make me nauseous. I would try opening all my windows, sealing vents, and running fans, but it never helped. After researching net airflow, it seemed that my apartment always had a negative airflow and was more likey to attract air. I figured that maybe I need a good intake fan to create a positive airflow. I bought this without checking dimensions carefully, but it wedges perfectly in a vertical orientation one of my windows (after modifying the adhesive foam strip location). I know the vertical orientation is supposedly not supported, but all the windows here slide horizontally. After two years, the intake mode is still able to create a strong positive air flow that completely keeps the smelly neighbor fumes out.

The airflow is great. Keeps the air moving and has been a great help for both me and my cat (we’ve got allergies). The design is great as it fits in the window nicely as a small sliver, so I don’t have to open the window very wide. This is great because I have a first floor apartment right next to the sidewalk, so this helps with privacy. Win! The remote is awful. Whoever designed the remote cannot be the same people who designed the fan. The remote has to be taken apart with a screwdriver to change or adjust the battery. No screw, no battery contact. It’s a small, pain in the butt detail which causes more wasted time and effort. Example: the remote rarely works. Ever. Why not? I unscrewed and removed the backing. The contact wasn’t making full contact with the battery. I nudged it over. Screwed the screw back in (basically stripping it in the process). Ok, great! It works well now. Half a day later it’s back to working when it wants to. I have to push most buttons on that thing at least 3 or 4 times directly in front of the fan to get it to accept my input. So why use the remote? Because it’s somehow easier than the really bad touch-panel display. I work in tech and am in no way a technophobe, but like, just give me physical buttons. Something that actually makes the user experience easier. All in all I am happy with the fan, but the controls are garbage.

This window AC is awesome. It cools without needing to exhaust hot air (dont ask me how). Ive used it in my outdoor patio by placing it on a mini-shelf thats on a wooden fence. The back of the AC was pretty much covered by the fence. Yet, it cooled the area around a table with four chairs. This may not sound like much, but I live in Miami. My patio is 20X40, enclosed by a wooden fence, and a roof I created with 2X4s, a heavy duty black tarp on the outside and silky Bohemian tapestry inside (to cover the wood and tarp). In this area theres a central AC compressor dishing out nothing but heat. So, when I brag about this AC cooling off a 10X10 area, trust me, it means a-lot! I have also placed it in my bedroom on top of a wardrobe unit facing the bed. This has allowed me to run my AC at 75 degrees, whereas it used to be set at 67. It is SUPER quiet and very versatile. It can be placed vertical, which I have also done while working (placing it on the corner of my desk). I purchased a similar model from Sharper Image ($20 cheaper) at the same time to compare them (Sharper Image is, well, SHARPER IMAGE; you cant go wrong, right?). Dont even waste your time. Total disappointment. It looks like an old motels over the door fan (not pretty to look at). Aesthetics aside, it is super loud and does not have the same power to reach across my bedroom. I gave it three stars on temp control because it is totally useless. It turns on with the current temperature. With the VERY EASY to use remote, the temperature can be dropped to 60 degrees. Regardless of how long it stays on, it never comes close to 60. The lowest it has gone is 72. But then again, I am not using it as instructed (with the exhaust outside; but dont see how that would help the temp go down, in fact, it would probably increase). My goal was just to cool off very specific areas at a given time. This AC most definitely accomplishes that goal.

I live in an area that AC is not normal. But my bedroom is upstairs so on any sunny day the room is hot, summer, unbearable. I have always used the double window fans you get at the local hardware store, and they are better than nothing, but basically worthless, not too mention loud. I stumbled on this, I read the reviews, found them to be mixed, but decided to pull the trigger anyway. It is pretty spendy, but I have to say, I believe it was worth every penny. I love the lower profile, and the air blows deep into the room, unlike the others that seem to not make it much past about a foot. The sound on its highest level (4) is whisper quiet. I get real air draw on the out, and it flips with a double tap of the remote. I do not use the temp control. Now, while I give it 5 stars, and I recommend it, and love it, there is a design flaw, and that is in the foam blocks for getting a seal around it. I def had to mcgyver it a bit. They are basically stupid, but better than nothing. There are several reviews that discuss them, and honestly, they are not wrong. However, dont let it deter you from a great fan.

I really like the slim design. But I was disappointed with how little air this fan moves compared to the more typical (and uglier) window units with two round fans—even at the max speed setting (4). I use it at night to cool down the room when the outside temperature drops, but its not working very well ... not surprising given how little air it pushes. It is also louder than I was expecting, with a bit of a clicking/whirring sound—even at the lowest speed setting (1). Once again, louder and more annoying than the white noise from the typical 2-round fan models. In summary: + great looks/design - does not move much air, not great for cooling even a small room - noisier than traditional window fans I am quite disappointed because I really wanted to like this product ... perhaps I received a faulty unit.
