Just make sure you’re far enough away from baby when you turn on the parent unit or the very obnoxious and loud safety warning will wake them up. Other than that it’s a great product. Wish there was a way to disable the warning since I’ve heard it about 8,000x by now.

I purchased this monitor a few months ago as a second monitor for my 2 year old. Our other monitor (Sony Babycall) is used for our 11 month old. The Sony is awful but lets stick to the current review. I bought the Vtech based on the reviews and price point. I honestly couldnt be happier with this monitor. Its quiet, like really quiet! The audio quality is very clean with no cracks, pops, or hisses. The range is good. Ive walked all around and outside my house with no issues. I havent had some of the issues others have like the connection issues. Every time I power on the device it links within 5 seconds and never breaks the link. Its durable enough. My two year old likes to play with it at every chance she can and it holds up just fine. I really like the unit for its clarity, no annoying pops, cracks, or hisses. The night light feature on the base is a very nice touch. You can set the device to only activate on noise in the room although this feature seems odd as the devices has no feedback at all when this setting isnt chosen. I dont have a lot of white noise in her bedroom. If you do maybe thats the reason for this feature? If I had to nitpick I would say; 1. Volume is a bit on the low side(even at max volume). Its never prevented me from hearing my little girl so take this with a grain of salt unless you have an extremely loud house or hearing issues. 2. The two way talk feature is a bit wonky. You use this feature like the old style walkie talkies. You press the button then speak so your child can hear you on the other end. Sometimes the button has a mind of its own. It always works but you have to press it with a certain amount of pressure. Again, not really an issue for me because it does work, it just has a bit of an attitude just like my two year old. I didnt purchase this unit for the two way talk so I consider this a freebie feature. These are the only reasons I gave it 4 stars. I cant imagine spending $100+ on another unit would get you that much better a product.

A few years ago I bought this for my wife who had joint replacement surgery. I put it in the bedroom where she was sleeping, so I could hear if she needed assistance. She just had another surgery recently, so I took it out of the closet, recharged the parent unit, and everythings working fine. Very nice unit, compact size. The parent unit has a little clip, so you can wear it on your person. Also it has a talk back, so you can communicate to your loved one/baby if needed. Im very happy with it.

I am hearing impaired and wear hearing aids so I really needed an audio monitor that I could hear. Once I take out my hearing aids I can still hear my granddaughter if she wakes up and cries during the night. This is a great monitor. I am very happy with my purchase

This monitor is so good because it alerts you in different ways. From sound, to beeps when the volume is off, vibrate and lights. There is no way that you can miss a sound. Range, sensitivity and clarity are great. You can use it as a Walkie talkie.

So I’ve had this monitor for a few months now, it’s got great sound but that’s not to say you can leave it in another room and expect to hear it very well. You can adjust the sensitivity for how much sound you want it to pick up. I have mine set to the highest sensitivity so if I leave my fan running in the room my baby is in, I can hear the fan but I also can hear baby just as much. You can talk through the parent monitor and the sound comes out of the baby monitor so you can talk to your baby if they are into that. Baby monitor does need to be plugged in in order for it to turn on but the cord is long enough so it shouldn’t be a problem. I do recommend that as soon as you start setting it up, first thing you want to do is turn off the parent advisory speech it gives the parent monitor every time it gets powered on. I didn’t mind it during the day but when I’d go to work at 6am and turn it on for my mom, I would try lowering it down when it came to that part but it was quiet during that time which made the speech it gave still be loud. It took me a good few days to turn off the speech, the instructions are a little confusing on how to turn it off but I figured it out somehow. Overall it’s a good baby monitor for the price and it’s both have been dropped on the floor multiple times and they still work without problems. They are very durable.

I use this in my moms room. It works perfectly. I can hear her if she needs me.

We originally registered for a video monitor for our nursery and got it, but once the baby came, we realized it was really inconvenient not to have a monitor in our bedroom since he was sleeping in there in his bassinet. We also found ourselves needing a monitor when we went to our families lake house and wanted to sit on the patio after putting him to bed in our bedroom. These monitors are fantastic. The baby monitor has to be plugged in, but the parent monitor does not. It has chargeable batteries. My mom had an older model from vtech and the parent monitor has to be plugged in too. We love that the parent monitor is able to be charged and portable. It creates so much more flexibility. I find myself putting my ear to the monitor to make sure it is still working even though it is linked, but every time Im linked and realize what a great feature it is, they dont make the background noice like a sleep machine loud on the parent monitor, it only reacts when a loud noice happens like the baby moves or cries out which makes trying to hold a conversation so much easier. I would highly recommend these monitors. IT has been key while our 4 month old continues to sleep in our room and any trip they are the first thing we pack into the diaper bag. Hope you enjoy them as much as we have!

Church nursery workers wanted to be able to hear the sermon. Instead of wireless speakers (bad reviews) or running wires (not really feasible) these work great. These are placed approximately 90 ft apart and the sound is amazing.

***Update!! After 20 months of use. This monitor still works! Im impressed for the price. However, we recently moved and now have issues daily with the parent unit becoming unlinked from the baby unit.. even when we are in the next room! If we move it closer, it will link back up. Sometimes it will link again on its own. So thats a bit disappointing. The other issue we have, is the battery of the parent unit does not last. We now plug it in every time our son is awake, and unplug when hes sleeping to use. Doing this keeps it charged enough not to die. However its always at 1 or 2 battery level. Also, we have to keep it on ALL the time. Even if it has a full battery, when we turn it off itll turn back on and display low battery and need to be plugged in. While these issues arent deal breakers, they are annoying. But again, for the price Im impressed with how well its held up. Our toddler loves to play with it, the handle on top of the parent unit is cracked, but the screen works still! Still recommended if youre looking for a quality baby monitor for daily use that wont get too much abuse. *original review: Weve had our monitor for a few weeks now and Im pretty happy with our purchase. For the money, its worth it. We bought it as a supplement to our video monitor (we bought a WiFi one so our long distance family could see our little boy) and only needed something for use while hes napping. It works when the baby unit is upstairs and our parent unit is downstairs and on the patio with us, so the range is perfect. We havent had any issues with the screen dying or it breaking at all. The volume is loud enough for us to hear him when were spending time with loud company. And the sensitivity settings make it so we can hear him when he cries but not listen to his rock and play rocking in the background. My only complaint is the battery dies relatively fast, after using it for a few hours it displays low battery and needs to be charged.
