Greater than one weekI purchased the trowel to use for digging a cat-hole on backpacking trips. The light-weight plastic trowels commonly sold as backpacking trowels have a tough time in hard, rocky soil and also do not deal with roots well. This trowel, while a few ounces heavier, makes digging in even the toughest soil relatively easy. Ive carried it on several trips now and it works great. The narrow blade makes excavating the soil out of the hole a little tedious, but it also makes it easier to dig a small diameter hole that is relatively deep.

> 3 dayNeeded a bigger digger to supplement the trusty Lesche and this is perfect. Strong, sharp and stainless. I do miss the hand protection and added push-power of the shelf at the top of the Lesche blade but as long as this ones kept sharp, itll do its job with ease.

> 3 dayI wondered if this odd looking long 14 trowel was really useful, but after using it I find it is an incredible tool for all gardening. Cuts through hard dirt like a mini shovel, and digs up roots easily. Great for digging up or moving plants outside, digging up bulbs, making planting holes, and moving soil about in the vegetable garden. Should last for many years as advertised. This 14 digger is a perfect size for most hand tasks. I use it almost all year except when the ground is frozen.

> 3 dayMade a wood handle for it to give it a little bit of a chunkier grip. It cuts to the dirt like butter!

> 3 dayThis thing is quite sturdy and never feels like its going to break like many of the cheap aluminum ones I have tried over the years. If you are on your hands and knees planting and someone comes up behind you be at peace in knowing you can stab someone in the throat with this spade. Yeah its sharp, hard, sturdy and has a retainer strap to keep it from flying out of your hand ...at said stranger danger behind you. It also as mentioned easily digs through hard sun beat dirty with ease. Ive had it for a couple of summers now and it is still going strong.
