YETI Rambler Gallon Jug, Vacuum Insulated, Stainless Steel with MagCap

> 24 hourBefore buying this product more than three years ago, I was drinking from plastic water bottles or refilling plastic gallon jugs of water. Despite the gallon jugs being HDPE, I started to notice a stinging in my throat from the plastic degrading or something after dozens of refills. Then came along this purchase, and it has been nothing short of perfect. Its easy to clean, easy to drink from (once you figure out a way to hold it, and assuming you dont mind the funny looks you get), and keeps water cold for an incredible length of time. From a full refill with a layer of ice cubes on top, the rambler kept the water ice cold for as long as it took for me to drink it all, around 18 hours. Mind you, it was a good bit of ice, but also the sheer size of the rambler allows it to have a large vacuum-insulated space surrounding it, which is how it keeps things so cold. I cannot comment on how it performs for hot beverages or stews or that kind of thing, as Ive only ever used it for cold water. Cleaning is a breeze as the large mouth of the rambler with its lid removed is more than sufficient to reach my whole hand and arm inside. One thing Ive found a little tricky to clean are the threads of the screw-on lid for the spout. Soaking it a little and then scraping with a paper towel seems to do the trick well enough though. And for anyone who has trouble getting the whole top off of the rambler (believe me, I did too for quite a while), a good trick is to get it on the counter at chest height, wrap your right arm around the steel body of it, then put your left hand on the vertical part of the handle, thumb at the top at the rubber grip, and the rest of your left hands fingers nearer the handles screw. Then pull your left hand leftwards while your right hand/arm keeps the body of the jug stationary. The lid should come off with some force applied.

> 24 hourThis container has very limited practical usage. Yes, it does keep liquids at desired temp for a long time even in direct sun exposure for hours. Yes, its very durable. The fun stops there. I can see this being used for water storage in harsh conditions like construction sites, camping trips, etc. If youre looking to just have it on you for regular use throughout the day, look elsewhere. Its too heavy; carrying it around can be annoying due to weight, and this is coming from a regular gym junkie grown man. Not easy to operate with one hand; this is obvious of course, however due to weight and bulkiness of it, its also cumbersome to have it in your passenger seat in the car and picking it up/putting it down back with one hand at that angle is also annoying. The lid is a HUGE pain in the neck to open up half the time. As all other reviews state, this can be a daunting task which would probably not suit most people. Overall, if you are getting this container for the purpose its intended to, then you will love it and the price tag will be worth it. For casual daily use it probably wont work out. Im going to be returning this and most likely purchasing 2 smaller yeti bottles instead just for the ease of use. Or I may explore other options.

> 24 hourI got this water bottle to keep in the car for my dog on hot summer days. Its in my car 24/7 with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees and the water is ALWAYS cool when it comes out. Its come in handy time and time again when I was in a road trip and was thirsty, after hikes, stranded with a flat tire and of course for its original purpose, keeping my pup hydrated on hot days. I’d buy another if they werent so expensive, but well worth it for any dog lover.

> 24 hourBought 13 of these for office gifts. Everybody loves this. Keeps ice all day on the jobsites. One came without a lid but all I need to do is call for a cap. Yeti is the BEST!

> 24 hourThe reviews for this product are absurd. Does not leak at all unless you dont close it right which is a plain truism. Ive seen reviews about people saying it is really hard to open the jug, but another truism, if you close it really tight it will always be really hard to open back up just like anything else. You have to close it just right and it doesnt leak and it opens easily. There are two weak point where you are supposed to press on to open the jug. That will be by pressing both of your thumbs on the side of the handle and using the rest of your fingers to open the bottle really simple. If have been looking to buy a one gallon jug for a while that contains your water cold, i truly recommend this one for your liking. I use this jug every day and i do clean it everyday and it is quick and simple. Dont be afraid of spending 140 bucks if you have the money it is really worth it.

> 24 hourDont get me wrong, I love this cooler... but I absolutely hate having to refill it. It will keep thing cold for days but what ever genius decided to make it a course thread makes it nearly impossible to open. If you dont tighten it enough it dribbles down your chest like a child but if you tighten it the slightest bit you busting a ba.... trying to open it. Clearly they have not perfected their seal technology but it is too good not to give it a 9 out of 10

> 24 hourIt keeps things cold for a long time. However, this thing is capable of cold fusion or something. Cold welding? Whatever. Basically, itll seal itself shut. The large lid I mean. I used to use a rolling pin to open it, but it eventually broke. I now stick it between the gaps of an iron gate and twist the bottle to open it. I tried twisting it under a fridge to turn the lid, but it lifted the fridge. I tried a stove, it lifted the stove. I tried a car, but it was too time consuming to roll a wheel over the handle. Iron gate worked best. Also, the handle survived all that without being bent. So good quality. Water can tend to taste like soap after a while? Im not sure about that soap thing though.

> 24 hourI bought this jug in May and used it all through the summer while I worked as a lifeguard on the beach. Our 7-hour-straight shifts mean a gallon of water, sometimes more, is necessary. However, I was tired of the cheap plastic jugs that leak all over my face when I try to drink directly from them. So I splurged and spent a day and a halfs pay on this jug. Pros of the Yeti jug: It never leaks. It holds ice all day in direct sunlight and 90-degree-plus temperatures. The magnetic cap is neat. The nozzle is good to chug from. Its stainless steel so it never rusts, despite having been dropped in the ocean and the sand. Cons: Filled with water, it weighs nearly 15 pounds- much heavier than the cheap plastic jugs. On the days when I had to walk to my stand carrying the jug in my hand it was a killer. I would routinely do bicep curls with it as a joke. The jug gets scratched very easily. It also got dented in the top edge early on, and although it was only cosmetic, plastic jugs dont get dented. Its EXPENSIVE. Overall, Im satisfied with my purchase. If the huge price tag isnt too off-putting, Id recommend it.
