> 3 dayNever thought I would be able to get raw steel for my husbands love of making knives, but here you can get everything. They arrived very promptly, and they were exactly what the description said they were. I am sorry that I didnt whip out my calipers to make sure that they were PERFECT...good sometimes is good enough in the forge. Looking forward to seeing what he makes with them.

> 3 dayI’m a hobbyist blacksmith I like making knives swords ornamental, but I’ve been using scrap steel for the last few years. When I saw this, I jumped on it the steel is good quality comes nicely wrapped and oiled to prevent it from rusting. Have a few different knives ideas to make out of these will be ordering more in the future when time permits.

> 3 dayNice blanks. Came without any tarnish and are very flat with no deviation, oiled in wax paper and bubble wrap. I tried to bend one on the bench and it was very strong with minor flexing. All in all, worth the money. Time will tell how well they are when creating a blade, but we shall see. Worth it.

> 3 dayThe steel was very hard, a good quality file would not scratch it. I ended up having to heat it and air cool it before it was workable. Other than that, it seems like good quality, and was precisely cut to the correct dimensions.

> 3 dayThese flat stock pieces are perfect for getting knife making started. They came packed tightly and very clean with no rust spots. Will work well for various sizes of knifes. Good price for the material.

> 3 dayFor the price, approximately 5.50 a piece, its a good deal. Should make some good blades when hardened. It looks like it was stamped or sheared to size and I believe that gave the metal a slight bow. That will need to be worked out before hardening. Other than that, whats not to like, Good steel.

> 3 dayTheres not a lot to say about steel blanks, but these are as advertised: well-packaged, corrosion-free, dimensions are as promised. I lack the lab equipment to verify the carbon content, but Im confident these are going to produce excellent results.

13-04-2025As others have noted, the dimensions of this 1095 flat stock are slightly under the claimed size for all measurements. However, for a beginning knife-maker, this is a convenient source for an annealed high-carbon steel. This flat stock is pretty well-suited to making a cut-out knife, but rather thin to start with for a forging technique. Circling back to the idea of being a good fit for a beginning knife-maker, though, this offers a chance to refine your grinding and shaping techniques without the complexity of making a full-forged blade.
