> 3 daySo many network switches, PoE or otherwise, advertise that theyre 8 ports but theyre not really since one port is uplink, leaving 7 only for network use. In PoE this is particularly a problem because youre paying a premium for a switch advertised as 8-port PoE. This BV-Tech switch is the exception - it is actually 8 ports of PoE because it has a 9th port for uplink. The DIN rail mount is handy for me, too. It makes for a neater, more stable, installation in the closet than a switch that sits on a shelf. And I dont have room for a rack-mount, making the DIN rail perfect. I recommend this switch for all your PoE needs.

20-04-2025I needed a POE switch to live in my attic through the hot New Orleans summer -- likely well above 100 degrees on a daily basis. I put it up in May and its been rock-solid all the way through to September. Hardware I dont have to think about is hardware I like!

> 3 dayIm using this switch to run my security camera system. The switch is currently running a mixture of POE and non POE cameras. The cameras are very stable and the switch seems to be doing its job very well. The only thing that I would say needs improvement would be that the unit does not have an internal cooling fan. The chassis of the switch gets considerably hot during normal operation and Im worried that the heat may cause damage to the switch. I plan to install an external fan to cool the unit in the future.

Greater than one weekI have this installed at my gate over 1/4 mile from our house in a concrete bunker (small shed). It connects to my home network via fiber. I have 4 security cameras, call box, router, Raspberry Pi, and Ubiquity wireless access point plugged in this 8-port (+2 fiber) switch. Five devices are PoE. I power the switch with a Meanwell 48 VDC power supply. The switch, power supply and other stuff is mounted to DIN rail on an inside wall. The entire bunker (about 30 cubic feet) is heated with a bathroom heater connected to a 110 VAC thermostat set at 40 degrees. I have had problems for years with lightning induced surges with equipment in and around this bunker. This PoE switch has given me no problems. It is unmanaged and since I no longer have VLAN requirements, unmanaged is OK with me. Even though it is not a smart switch, it does automatically understand Ethernet devices that require PoE and those that do not. The switch is simple, fast, and reliable.

> 3 dayGood switch but had to return it because only the uplink ports are gigabit. The PoE ports are 10/100
