Ive used a version of this bag for extensive international travel for the last 6 years. While the nylon is very durable, the extension handles are very poorly made. Ive had two bags where the metal has snapped mid-travels, which is a real hassle since its a carry-on and the handle doesnt retract properly then. Both happened after about 2 years. Timbuktu will fix it, but it costs almost 50% of the price of a new bag to ship it back to them.

I travel about once a month. And I take this bag for big and small trips. When I took it for vacation, this bag made it easy for me to separate my clothes from my wifes. Th quiteness of the wheels are the icing on the cake. There are times when I travel really early. The wheels lets me walk around in the house without anyone knowing! The fact that the handle and the wheels are tucked into the case make it really convenient! You would think that you are taking a lot of space but it doesnt. If anything, it lets me separate my clothes even better. Having handles on all sides is great! There are times when I am at a conference and I am flying out right after. The zipper on the top lets me change very easily in a bathroom. BUY this piece of luggage! It is exactly what you are looking for! This bag does fit on a smaller plane. I mean a plane where its one seat on one side and two on the other, you will have to put it horizontally. I have done it myself, some airlines wont let you take it on no matter what.

The 22 (Medium) Timbuk2 Copilot is a good bag with some minor flaws.

This is my second one. These bags are amazing. I used to buy Tumi but this has won me over. I love the skate board wheels. Its super study and the perfect maximum size for carry-on.

I wanted a roller bag that I could fly overseas with (and domestic). I am very happy with my purchase. the front top pouch is perfect for your liquids bag to quickly get in and out for security. the front large pocket easily hold my tablet, again , fast through security. the wheels are whisper quiet and smooth. the zippers are also smooth and robust. Compared to other 20” bags, this is better for two main reasons: first “spinner” bags have wheels that hang low, so the bag size is more like 118” but the total length (which is what counts for bin space) is up to 24” on some (that will not work for overseas or commuter jets). Second, the interior pack space is larger, you get the actual 20” and the handle channel does not rob the pack area. I’ve taken this on many trips from long weekends to 2 weeks and it was perfect. This is an investment piece. Ge.t it.

Extremely high quality and very functionally designed. Super quiet wheels. Easy to organize. Can pack a lot in a small space. 4-year update: still my go-to bag, still holding up after a lot of abuse and many, many flights.

My wife and I needed new proper modern carry on luggage. our stuff worked, but had dinged up wheels and not much of the new stuff put in the newer products. Wifey wanted one for Christmas. I know, dumb xmas gift, but thats what she wanted man. I DIDNT GET HER THIS Timbuk2. I actually got her something quite a bit more expensive. that is a big part of this review. By the way, this is a roller bag meaning 2 wheels not 4. That is my personal preference as you get a little more room inside and they are easier to get in overhead bins without 4 wheels. Some like to drag the little 4 wheel lobbies around, but its 2-3 inches of space lost in the luggage.

Love the travel roller, but on Airline Carry on luggage its HUGE and I chose size Small. The boxy look makes this look bigger and with Airlines cracking down on carry on luggage, I didnt want and dont want anything over 19 - other than the Airlines being picky, I did like this roller, it goes so well with my other Timbuk2 items, but the size was off, especially for European Airlines who are so strict on the 19 height. Also, the zipper does not flow as smoothly as it should for price paid. I could not justify keeping this item, even though it went with my Timbuk2 Crossbody, the zipper could be better made. I eventually chose The North Face Overhead, similar size, different construction, appears smaller, and even though it cost more, its better made, and more durable.

This is the best flight bag I have owned in over 30+ years of traveling and over a million flight miles. Here is what I like about the bag: (1) skateboard wheels. Most other flight bags have anemic wheels that wear down quickly, often break, and are a pain to replace. (2) Top opening panel with clam shell design. Although clam-shell designs have some packing advantages, they are a pain when you want to grab something quickly while on the go. The top panel of this carry-on zips open, so you can grab a packed item without having to open the clam shell. (3) The top pouch is excellent--the best one Ive come across. It is out of the way but way but easy to get to. Great for quickly stashing your phone, keys, etc. when going through security. (4) Zip mesh panels on the inside of each clam shell keep your stuff from falling out when you open the case (Ive only had this case for about six months, so it will be interesting to see how long these mesh panels last). (5) Outside zippers are solid. (6) Perfect size for storing in carry-on bins, even on international flights. (7) Light weight. (8) Competitively priced. Why spend several hundred dollars on a carry-on that in all liklihood will not be nearly as good as this one?
