After recently purchasing a new parakeet and cage I was in need of purchasing additional perches as the perches that came with the cage were not enough. I searched Amazon as sadly since Petland closed its stores my community no longer has any pet stores. I saw this perch stand which I thought would be something different than just another bar across the cage and my new parakeet is on it most of the day. She actually lies down on it and rolls over while holding onto the bars on the cage with her foot. The perch is easy to clean and it will help keep her nails trimmed. This is really a great product and I am very happy with my purchase and recommend it to anyone that owns birds.

I decided my birds needed a new perch since they had chewed up the edges of the old one. They took to the purple relatively quickly. The dark color does show the poop. Next time I’ll go with yellow.

UPDATE: changed 3 stars to 5...once I bought the flight cage...with so much room, and so far to fly (kidding!), both birds took to the platform like champs. Will buy again after I submit this post. Original Post: I tried using it in a small cage ( 27 x 14) but removed it when the one bird was totally freaking out. Ive just moved them to the Prevue Pet Products Wrought Iron Flight Cage with Stand F040 Black Bird Cage, 31-Inch by 20-1/2-Inch by 53-Inch which I am totally happy with (assume they are too! they sure seem to be enjoying the extra space!) and Ive installed this shelf - so far, 3 hours in...they havent ventured near it, but the one bird is not acting like its a snake! Will update if/when they decide to use it!

This perch is exactly what I needed for my senior budgie! It took some time to get used to, but now it is her favorite spot to take naps during the day :) It is big enough for her to comfortably preen on but it’s still compact enough that it does not take up a ton of space. It is very easy to clean and has made her nails noticeably shorter without additional nail filing. The quality of the actual perch is good for my budgie, but I’m not sure if it could hold a larger, heavier bird. Very pleased with this purchase!

The surface is not super rough so doesn’t hurt bird’s feet. However, my bird likes to sleep on it and poops all over it. Then proceeds to walk in that poop and gets the perch and his feet all nasty! I ended up taking the perch out because cleaning it every day was too much of a hassle since you can’t just wipe it off, you have to clean it under hot running water to get all the poop out of the grooves. Still a good perch, but not for birds who spend lots of time on it.

Maude and Dodd took to this from the get go. Found them making out this morning on it. Good investment!

I bought this for my budgie, to rest her feet. She adores it. I make sure she uses it every day by leaving her veggies clipped to the cage right next to this platform.

I needed a larger platform for my parakeet than just the normal flat stumps. She loves this thing, it has a rough surface so she likes to scrape her seer and beak on it. The material looks strong, but ill find out soon enough as she starts to chomp away at it. The mounts seem pretty sturdy as well. I guess my only gripe is the color is not what was pictured, doesnt really matter much to me though. Pros: Sturdy, rough surface for my bird to clean herself, a large surface for her to sleep and chill on! Cons: None really, just color may be different than what is pictured.

I bought 2 of these colorful platforms for my parakeets to have something different to rest or play on and put them near the top of the cage. The quality is excellent. I put a toy on one side so my bird can hop around and play while on the platform. I will be buying more since I have a flight cage and want to try to leave the middle as clear as possible for flying. I guess you get what you pay for- when you clean the perch gently with soap and water (for example if bird poops on it), the coarse blue colored part just comes off…. After a few washes it’s just a piece of wood.
