Id never used a setting solution before but found that it made decals easier to slide off their backing, position on a model, and then adhere to the plastic surface. Now I will definitely use setting solutions on decals and I might be more open to using decals instead of rub-on dry transfers. If you havent used setting solution, it is well worth an experiment. I bought and used the product recently, so the jury is still out on long-term adhesion.

The best product for applying decals

I used to build models all the time when I was younger and thought I was really great at it. I just recently got back into doing it and saw a lot of recommendations for MicroSol and MicroSet. I never realized how much more professional a product could make my models look! This really makes the do cows look like they are part of the actual paint job as opposed to laid down on top of it. I cant say enough about how much I love this stuff and how glad I am that I actually finally got it!
