Cleaned three 70+ year old automotive switches and now they are working perfect.

Its hard to tell if it actually helped our issues but there was a lot of gunk that came out.

Relegated to electronics this might provide some benefit but for wiring on motorcycles and cars, it really doesnt do much. This cleaner never really gets past the tarnish/corrosion on copper wire. I tested two pieces of the same wire, one dipped in vinegar and the other had Deoxit applied. No comparison, the deoxit did virtually nothing even after hours. The vinegar was a drip in, rinse and then spray with one of those moisture removing formulas found in auto parts stores and it was as clean as new. Sure, there is the idea that vinegar is an acid and could compromise the wire but Im not talking about dunking the insulated wire in it, just the end that is bare where a connection is made. After cleaning, a suitable film barrier will keep the connection working properly. I imagine that much of the claims made about deoxit come from just disconnecting and reconnecting the wires that dislodges corrosion and really has little to nothing to do with the deoxit. Unlike silver where the tarnish layer doesnt affect current capacity, on copper that isnt true and that is where the simple disconnect/reconnect improvement has some real benefit. In summary, for the rather high expense, save your money, this isnt going to clean copper wire any better than any other cleaner that costs far less and cant come close to some household methods that cost almost nothing. In all fairness, Deoxit might act as a barrier to reduce corrosion after cleaning with something else but given that the company seems to have a multitude of liquids for various steps the idea of cleaning contacts and wire connections for automotive type uses can quickly become more expensive that a new wire loom.

You get what you pay for. Pricey for this small bottle but it goes a long way. I have been using it for quite a while now and the bottle still appears full. Great product.

In my sample, the dispenser nozzle did not work at all. I had to remove the cap entirely in order to use the product. Once applied, the product performed as advertised. Assuming that the dispenser worked I would buy this product again.

Does exactly what it says on the bottle. Since a little goes a long way, this bottle will last you quite a long time. Great for fixing up all sorts of electrical/electronic contacts. Improves and protects battery contacts, headphone jacks, computer cables and so on.

My cars ECM had an intermittent connection that was causing the left bank of injectors not to fire, so I decided to give this stuff a try. Well I wiggled that connection to no end, and the engine didnt sputter not even once. I then put it on all my cars sensor connections. I really love this pruduct especially the fact that it is proudly made in the U.S. of A !!

Deoxit is what you need to spot clean electronic contacts.

Ive been using this stuff since the late 1800s in audio pots and switches. Audio guys have commented forever how this stuff lubes and quiets audio slider pots. My findings have always been equally as positive. I put a drop on the pots on my flight sim joystick. They are typically 10k, 90 deg ROM composition pots, doing the typical 5v thing to an A/D converter. They are often miniature pots, smaller traces, likely more prone to dirt/dust/bug poo. As expected, the drop of red stuff smoothed out the response very dramatically. What was a quarter to half volt spike with every movement of the pot became measurably zero spike. Smooth as a baby pots bottom. As smooth as any Hall Effect sensor curve. Heres the new use - I put a drop on the joysticks mechanical cams. Thats typically a machined and/or chrome surfaced cam and ride bearing affair with or without a center detent. I dont want oil or grease on these, they live in a desk mount joystick or in a set of flight pedals, constantly on the floor, being activated by the bottoms of the pilots shoes. I simply cleaned the factory supplied lithium/moly/bear fat grease off the cams and allowed one drop of DeOx to flow onto the cam bearing surface. The carrier disappears via magic pixies and apparently leaves the Business End part of the product on the metal surface. No dust collecting like with grease. The seemingly high price of the little bottle is not a factor. Man cave engineers will likely get 10+ years out of one of these bottles. Youre likely to change hobbies or die before you use up two bottles.
