> 3 dayI work on old tube radios occasionally. I used a spray can of contact cleaner from Radio Shack. It worked well. When it was used up I went to the antique radio forum and they recommended using Deoxit instead, as it was the best they said. I bought some, have not tried it yet. Also they said it needs to go directly on the metal contact spots, avoid getting it on the phenolic (a paper/plastic like substance) wafers, and to apply sparingly as it attracts dust. This is easiest to do with a needle dropper. It also lasts much longer than the spray cans. In general, we all use spray cans of something or other, and we all find sometimes lose their fizz or the tiny hole clogs. Not a problem with the liquid bottles.

Greater than one weekI had some really noisy/scratchy potentiometers on one of my basses and got the DeOxit to try and fix them. I put a few drops on the shafts, worked the controls back and forth a few times, waited two minutes, and plugged the bass in. The controls were absolutely silent! I had a remote control with buttons that were working intermittently. I took the remote apart and used the DeOxit on the contact pads on the circuit board, put the remote together, worked the buttons a few times, and popped in the batteries. Now the remote works on the first press of each button. I even got the DeOxit wipes and use them on my bass strings. This stuff is great.

Greater than one weekUse DeOxit to enhance electric contact to any appliance switch or electrinic device thats making intermitent or deficient electric contact. Flashlights, photo eq., flashes, hot shoes, batteries and battery compartments, cable connectors, etc. The needle applicator lets you can precisely put a drop or two on both surfaces that should make electric contact and presto. It deoxidizes and lubricates switches, contacts or any other part that you suspect may not be making adequate connection. Great for flashlight threads and battery end contacts as well.
