Ive owned several other Dustbuster type vacums, all battery powered. In a word, they all sucked, and not in a good way. After a few months, The Black and Decker Dustbuster would only run for 5 minutes. After reading multiple reviews about how bad the batteries for all these vaccums were, I decided to get the Dirt Devil Scorpion, a corded vacuum. Its way more powerful than any DC vacuum and picks up just about everything in my house. The cord is pretty long so I only have to plug it in to 2 different outlets to clean my whole house (1,000 sq. ft.). Ive also used it to vacuum my car since I have an outlet near my driveway. It is kind of noisy and it does blow a lot of air back through the vents. The other thing is that the filter fills up quickly so I have to clean it out 2X during my house cleaning. At less than $30, its a good deal too (Amazon Used but looked like new). I believe normal price is about $45-Still a good deal). I give it a solid 4 out of 5. Im an AC/DC fan, but in this case, AC definitely beats DC!

I read some of the reviews complaining that this item was lacking power. Well, I found that this vac performs great. Plenty of power and easy to use. Much better than battery operated versions.

Beats my battery powered vacuum hands down. Powerful and great filtration.

I had a Dirt Devel handheld unit for 10+ years that finally gave out so I came here to buy another one. Im only using it for around the cat box and along the side of walls in my own home. The suction is okay--it does clog and you have to put your fingers in there to push the material out of the way. The suction opening is way too narrow--it needs to be wider. If I get one year out of this model I did well.

nice product, but the box says it comes with a power head and it doesnt. Isnt that false advertising?!?

Even though the “Dirt Devil Scorpion Hand Vac” box was enclosed in an Amazon shipping box, the Manufacturer’s box had a big hole/rip in it, which scratched the unit! First impressions are everything and mine was upsetting! As the saying goes: “You never get a second chance to make a first impression”! Then, upon reading the Manual, which I might add was a scrunched mess, it appeared that I was missing the “Powered Stair and Upholstery Tool”! Upon Re-reading that section, I noticed an asterisk * which said: “Not all models have this feature”—even though it seems to indicate in the Manual that it was a part of the package(?) As far as the “Dirt Devil Scorpion Hand Vac” itself, I’ve only plugged it in to see if it worked and checked the suction which seems to be fine. If I find out otherwise when I vacuum my cars interior, I will post a second review.

Other Reviewers werent kidding!! I have 3 children, a pet, a sandbox (outside although you might disagree once they and their little friends all come inside) and hard floors....needless to say, a dust buster is a must in this house. I have tried various styles from legitimate quality trusted brands but I sill need a new vac every year (the last hasnt even made it 6 months). Within the first two minutes of use (even after full 24 hour charge) the motor audibly slows to a sad little whine :( I dont abuse them, change filter regularly, and do a real/full vac of the house weekly... These days, we simply cannot afford to keep replacing appliances at the rate they fall apart so I decided to widen my selection pool and go with customer-approved tried & tested....amazon and all of you. I was hesitant about the cord but I figured that the power level is the issue and the constant factor has been the re-chargeable battery so I had better go with something that will fix that problem once and for all so..... its back to old-school ;). I have never bothered writing reviews before but I tried my vac this morning and put it down to do so! Im in power heaven.... Like a previous poster, I started moving around the house just to see what else I could pick up - lol. As the kick back wind blew my hair wildly, I thought hmmm thats nice - even when youre in 98 degree summer heat sucking sand and unidentifiable bits out of car seats, the breeze just cools you right off.... In fact, its so awesome, I might be able to get my son or husband to try it so I can watch them then move around the house and I didnt even have to ask! It is quite loud but it makes the little ones run and I kinda like that too ....ah, mom finds a minute of peace and quiet (even better, the task is actually complete and Im done! - a word I dont use much). Theres a 3 year warranty, the price is right (10-15 LESS than the junk), and it comes right to your front doorstep (eeek!). My advice. Plug in & go old school....
