I bought these wheels to replace the wheels which I had originally put on a mobile lumber cart. This thing is heavy and I knew it weighed well over 1000 lbs, and the previous wheels were only rated for up to 1200. Oops. I found out how much the thing weighed by taking EVERYTHING off the cart and then first weighing it and then weighing all of the lumber (sheets of plywood, hardwoods, etc. ... *lots* of it. The total was just under 1310 lbs. No wonder the previous wheels stopped turning. The hardest thing about installing these was that the cart was fully loaded, and I had to A) make space for the wood on the floor of my woodshop, B) unload the cart being sure to leave enough clear space so that I could turn it over on its back, and then C) laying it down on its back and replacing the old wheels. As it happens the plates on the old and new wheels were almost the same size and as the bolt holes were in the same place on both, the actual removal and replacement of the wheels took about 5 minutes. Unloading and reloading the cart took about 2 hours. Sigh. After reloading the cart it rolled very smoothly. Now due to inertia moving it is not the easiest thing in the world, but with a load that size (cart: 1300+ lbs. vs. me: 225 lbs. Hmm. No wonder.) The only problem was minor in that while I was unloading, replacing the wheels on, and reloading the cart, someone else put a heavy duty extension cord (ruggedized, too - over 1/2 diameter) behind me and I had to roll the cart over it. I had to get a moving start to get the cart to go over it, and backing the cart up about 2 feet and pushing it from behind it went over the cord far more easily than I had expected, and the anticipated problem turned out to be a non-issue. The only thing I would differently if I had this to do over again, I would use the heavier 5 wheels, but I didnt see find them on Amazon when I ordered these. Theyre fine for now but if they fail I might use the larger, heavier wheels to replace them. Ive used many full locking casters like these (and from this manufacturer) in various sizes for several years and the wheels which I replaced actually came from the blue big-box store and cost a good deal more than these. So Ive learned my lesson on that issue. In service the cart rolls smoothly although due to inertia to get it moving the start of movement is slow, and it steers pretty easily. Turning can be a problem due to the geometry of my shop (I have to navigate one very tight turn when and if I move the cart from one shop room to the other - which has happened about twice - and doing so can be tricky as I have only about 3 clearance total in negotiating one turn and the carts dimensions are only 6x3 buy full sheets of plywood change that o an effective 8x3), but since I havent had to do that very often I cant say its any kind of a major issue. I would buy these wheels again (although as stated above I would use even larger, heavier wheels if I had to do it over again), and will continue buying wheels made by this manufacturer on Amazon.

Well-made set of matched wheels/casters for DIY projects. Roll well, and very sturdy, but somewhat difficult to lock and unlock.

My husband loves that it gave his workbench maneuverability. Also product is sturdy and easy to install comes with hardware. Although he said he wishes it also came with screws not just bolts.

I bought these for a cart I build for my MFT table. Now that I have assembled the table + cart, I think I could have used a caster with less weight capacity. These casters are wicked strong and roll like butter on my garage floor. You need to lock these down, or your cart will roll away if there is ANY grade nearby. These are very well-made and I am extremely happy. They are a little pricey, but if you like to avoid cheap hardware, these are the bomb. I would not hesitate to recommend for any shop project.

Most of my car repair tools are in a Craftsman 26 inch triple-stack toolbox. As much as I want a 72 toolbox, the Craftsman is all I really need now that I work only at home. But I still have a lot of stuff in it, and even more stuff hanging off the sides of it. Its pretty heavy, and while the factory casters rolled well, only 2 of them swiveled. Getting the box into tight spaces was a chore. I bought these because they all swivel, they have a combined weight rating of 1800 lbs (450 apiece) and they have a brake to keep my toolbox from rolling down the road and onto the highway. Installation was a snap. I was able to use the factory mounting holes and hardware. I had to space them out a bit so that they would clear the lip on the bottom of the box but that was easily accomplished with a few shims. Overall they work well. It isnt easy getting a tall, heavy toolbox to roll or swivel. The polyurethane wheels make it a bit harder because they deform slightly with the weight and have higher friction when trying to swivel. The factory rigid plastic wheels rolled more smoothly so theres a tradeoff for the extra maneuverability. Its certainly easier to maneuver the box around corners and into tight spots, and thats what I wanted so Ill live with the extra effort required to get the Tower O Tools rolling. So far the casters havent developed any flat spots despite being stationary for weeks at a time. Im pretty happy with them and may get a set for another tool chest that I have. The brake works well and the casters dont mark up the floor as they roll. Overall, these are probably as good as it gets unless I pay a lot of money for a set of very heavy duty casters.
