> 24 hourFantastic device worth its weight in gold for remote bush adventures. Solar panel + cell phone (if you like to text) + Garmin inReach and youre SET for an adventure while staying in touch. Never had to use the emergency function. Make sure you get the appropriate plan. The Garmin inReach website interface is great, with geotagging your text locations with coordinates, social media integration, etc. BAttery life was really good and no problem with signal. I could use it inside the 3 season tent without concern but outside was always most reliable. Highly recommended.

> 24 hourSo far not good. I cant register the device. inreach.garmin.com yields a page fail message - even when linked via Garmin support page. When I get in via an existing Garmin account, I enter IMEI and stuff, get to the next info page, fill that out, submit and it fails. It wants an email address which isnt a field on the page. Chat support says that happened a few weeks ago east of the Mississippi and its been fixed. I am in WA state. I can understand maybe a post Christmas rush has broken their server. Ill try again tomorrow, but otherwise this expensive device is going back due to support fail. Am posting here to warn others and maybe get Garmins attention even though that seems unlikely. Before you buy, see if you can even get the first login page to load. Oh, and then theres the $60 mount I irresponsibly bought before testing the InReach.

> 24 hourThis unit has been fantastic. GPS has been spot on, messaging has been reliable and response time is reasonable considering it travels to the stratosphere and back again. Being able to keep touch with home while being a business owner, father and husband is critical. Loved ones being able to track your progress and know where you are and that you are safe is priceless. I bought mine after a sever accident and having to ride a motorcycle home with a broken leg, hours from help. This unit with available rescue help at the push of a button is not only lifesaving, but a real peace of mind for those who are adventurous, especially if you travel solo. It does require open sky to expose the unit to satelites but that should be obvious to anyone familiar with how satellites work. If not, study up. Buying a second unit after the first was stolen by someone who has no idea what they posses or the capability it has. Im sold for life.

> 24 hourGreat tool, I have been starting with the very first InReach for Mobile back in 2013, then used the InReach SE and now the Inreach Explorer+. Its the perfectly reliable outdoor communication and rescue tool. Any mountainbiker, windsurfer, kiteboarder, sailor, expedition people etc should have one. There are more enhanced dataplans available by protegear.com with a dedicated email address for your InReach and some smartsafety features with deadmans switch.

> 24 hourThis is an update to an earlier review.

> 24 hourThis is a great GPS and communications unit. Just be aware that the pricing isn’t 100% transparent until you have already bought it and realize that the low monthly cost they advertise is for a barebones service and the major features are at higher price points.

> 24 hourThe GPS and location tracking is lousy, set-up and syncing not intuitive at all and customer support is non-existent. Unless youre buying this product for the SOS functionality, save your money.

> 24 hourDisappointed because when we went to register the product we found out it had been registered and used by someone else and was being sold as a new product. We were unable to register it unless the previous owner deactivated so we had to send it back.

> 24 hourGreat addition to our ATV travels and hiking. Haven’t used a couple of times but feel much safer with it.
