Genuine Part Gp1059291 Canister Seal

I moved to a new place and the toilet was shut off as it was leaking water. I had not seen the toilet yet and thought it was a normal one so I bought a repair kit and found the toilet was very different from any I had seen before. It did not have a standard flapper so the repair kit would not work. I looked up the brand and model number and found out it used a ring gasket to seal the cylinder. I could not find one in town as all that was available were standard flappers. I found the right gasket here and it installed without a problem after watching a YouTube video on how to remove the cylinder. The old gasket was gooey and sticky but came off and cleaned up without much difficulty. The new seal is working so far with no more running water.

The installation of this replacement seal was easy, but unhooking the valve cylinder in order to install it was the real pain. It stays in place, and the toilet no longer runs, so yeah, it does what it says on the blister pack.

In a time where the news can make us feel scared and confused, it’s good to know that there are gaskets like this that still exist in this world. When my wife first informed me that our toilet was running, I experienced a personal moment of pure elation. “Please let me have to replace the canister gasket” I silently muttered over and over to myself as I dipped my bare hands into the mechanical bowels of the place where one does such things. Upon dismantling of my toilet hardware and watching you tube videos over and over again in self imposed perpetual foreshadowing, it was finally time to crack open my most awaited package. After consuming what was in my most awaited package, now being fully nourished, I was ready to tackle the gasket. ITS GASKET TIME, BABY!!!! Let me say, first of all, that in my almost 40 years on this earth, never have I seen a gasket quite of this caliber. From its durable rubber feel, to its bright mustard hue, there was nothing about this gasket that wasn’t magnificent. As I reached in to remove the sad faded reddish pink gasket from the canister, I was struck by just how amazing the new gasket was. It was just so gasketty. I apologize in advacne for any typos but my eeys are blurred with the tears of memory... I trembled with anticipation as I attempted to un-disassemble my toilet tank in the reverse order from earlier. Now, let me assure you that NONE of the following is the fault of the “Golden Gasket”. In fact, when discussing the situation with my plumber afterwards, he reassured me that this gasket was indeed the finest he too had ever seen, was in perfect working order, and was in no way responsible for me snapping off an essential part of the inner toilet tank that prevented it from properly filling. It’s about 62/38 as to whether he meant what he said or was just agreeing with me because he thought I was a bit crazy, but that’s not important. The important thing is “GASKET”. Just that. I imagine that, by reading this review, you too are as fanatical about gaskets as I am. I mean, why else would you possibly be reading a review of a replacement product for a toilet tank? Exactly!! Gaskets. In conclusion, this yellow ring did its job and now I don’t have to hear anyone complain about the toilet running. Yay gaskets...

Works perfectly and looks great !

My toilet was leaking and when I opened the top to change the flapper (as I usually do on my other toilets) I realized that this toilet was different. I, of course started looking for options of changing the innards and ordered the complete cannister from Amazon (of course) I had it the next day and it looked just the one inside my toilet. But while looking up videos on how to change it I stumbled on a video of how to change the seal. The seal was only a third the cost of the cannister, so I ordered it, and it arrived quickly. I changed this out in about 5 minutes and it works perfectly. Not sure how long it will last, but for now its perfect!

My toilet was draining and refilling constantly and I determined it was due to the canister seal. I considered getting a cheaper generic one but read mixed reviews, so I went with the name brand. I cant speak to the durability of this item but it was easy to install and the toilet issue has been resolved!

This was a perfect replacement. Don’t gamble and buy one of the off-brand replacements. Save your time and money and buy OEM.

I have a low-flow Kohler toilet that had a phantom flush. That is where your valve seal has gotten old and the water leaks out slowly. All of a sudden you hear the toilet start to fill again all by itself in a pattern. That is called the phantom flush. A very slow leak into the bowl that finally results in the water level getting so low in the tank that it flushes itself. Did some research and found out it was time to change the valve seal. Seems like they only last a couple of years (less if you use chemicals in the tank itself for cleaning). Bought this inexpensive little piece. Looked on YouTube for a video on replacing a canister flush valve seal. And voila! Toilet fixed and no repairman bill. Bought 2 of these at the same time so Id have a spare a couple of years down the road when this one fails. $7 is much better than a $75 plumber call! Do it yourself - you can do it if I did!

Very easy to install, no leaks!

I’ve only had this installed for a week & it’s working great! I am pretty optimistic that it will do better than the last kohler canister seal ring that came with the toilet originally. The toilet wasn’t even 4 years old & the ring (as shown in the pictures/red ring) was shot. So much so that the toilet wasn’t sealing so the toilet ran all night. This does replace the red seals. It seems better quality than the red ones too. I forgot to get a picture of the new yellow seal but it’s smooth & it is like others have said a little over 3 inches diameter (about 3 & a half inches diameter.) We have a class 5 & class 6 Kohler toilets( class 5 shown in pictures) & this Seal fits both (canister type flushers.) Super easy to install. Kohler has an instruction video on YouTube & I believe on Amazon, that helps guide you to replace the seal. I also bought the genuine Kohler toilet chain on Amazon(sold & shipped by Amazon) fantastic price & products are genuine.
