I got this product to sprinkle around my windows to keep ants out. Well, after digging through the bag of super fine powder to get the applicator out, I found dust everywhere...then I read the label, which says to avoid inhaling it and use a respirator and goggles during application. I was bummed because I have pets, and everyone says food grade DE is safe for use around people and pets - but its clearly not, for this type of application. Even closing the bag spouted dust...and the zip on the bag does not close. I poured some outside, but its so fine it just blew away and didnt go into the sidewalk cracks I intended it for. I couldnt even sweep it into place. Disappointed to say the least (for my intended application)! Im giving it 4 stars because if used as anti-caking for animal feed, maybe its awesome!! But not easy for novices to apply...

Used this product to get rid of a variety of household pests. Chemicals dont work because we have children in the house. Took care of ants and spider and all of the spring time pests inside! Swear by this stuff! Also used in the past to get rid of a bed bug problem. After spending 5k with Orkin one of the call center reps at Orkin told me to give this a try and lo and behold $16 and two weeks later, I had no further bed big issues...it did what Orkin could not do for $5,000! Will always be my go to for pest control!

This is a great product for keeping fungus gnats controlled. If infested, cover the top of soil completely with it about 1/4 inch and try to go at least two weeks before working into the soil. Bottom water to keep from disturbing.

Been battling a pantry moth infestation that got into my garden room through some bird seed I had stored. Its unreal how resourceful these little jerks are - they get all established before you even realize theres an issue. One day you ask, Why are there so many of these things and the answer soon becomes apparent that theyve moved in without asking. They got behind my window casements for heavens sake. I cant reach there to vaccuum them out. They also did get into one half of my food pantry and I had to toss some food they got into and vacuum that out as well, hard to do because they get into the shelf peg holes, even. Since they were living in areas I could not reach with my water vac attachments, I deployed this desiccant to their habitat instead. Hee hee. So this stuffs messy and I used the dispenser wrong at first but basically I just ineptly dusted this stuff in every area I saw them and let it sit. It has taken about five weeks or so but their population numbers finally just bottomed out and Im no longer seeing them in anywhere near the numbers I used to. We also spent weeks manually killing the flying ones we saw with an electrified racket (more satisfying than youd think) and I also deployed pantry moth traps that also seem to work well and are doing a good job helping me gauge the problem. You can win against them but it takes a sustained effort. You dont have to be perfect, this stuff WORKS. A spate of nice weather apparently spurred a bunch of them to hatch out earlier this month, we took care of that phalanx and since then have seen only a few sporadically which we also dispatched. Im super happy with this stuff, it clearly affects the moths, if they touch it they seem to have trouble flying as well. It doesnt work immediately and you have to address the issue with a multipronged approach. This is the big center prong. This is the stuff you want if youre battling pantry pests. Give yourself a leg up and use this, its natural, safe, and has no effect my pets. Wear goggles and a mask when youre applying it so you dont breathe any in. Once the air is clear and the stuff is on surfaces, youre good. It kills insects by drying them out. Kinda genius if you ask me! I dont think I will have to call an exterminator after all.

I love gardening and have grown some veggies in my back yard, I found some annoying bugs like pill bugs, ants and fungus gnats etc., I did a lot research and dont feel like to use something chemical which may harm the environment and human body health, so I decided to get this food grade Diatomaceous Earth with the duster and yellow traps and they works well, the powder is extremely fine just like girls loose powder. After few time of this, I did see some dead bugs, just spray a layer on the surface of potted plant to prevent fungus gnats , stir into the soil dirt and spray it to wherever has shadow that bugs loves to hide in, or spray on the plant leaves for any kind of caterpillar. California recently has roaches problem, Ive seen roaches shown like 2 years ago, this year they gets bigger and more, sometimes I take walk in hot summer midnight and I see some roaches on the sidewalks, lawns, they gather together especially around the fallen rotten fruits from trees just outside your house and I saw some in my back yard too, after blowing the dust away I sprayed the powder into the gap between house and concrete, it did a great job killing all the bugs, I saw dead drying roached the next few days and they less shown, DE can be used in both dry and wet, I like to use it dry, Ill consider non-food grade for just insect prevention and food grade one for edible plant, so far I highly recommend this and remember wearing face mask and goggles to protect yourself when using DE.

To be honest I am not all together sure what its actual use is, I just know I read it could get rid of fleas. It does do that temporarily. Should you be using it for that DO NOT use the spryer that comes with it. I did and it got everywhere, I literally had to clean it off of everything in my room. The better albeit harder way to do it is to find something to put it in and sprinkle it. When my sister used it she used a mason jar and poked holes on the lid. If you have a tiny flea problem this will solve it for a month or so, if you have a big flea problem you’re looking at it lasting a week at best. Again, I don’t know what it’s actually used for, so this review is based on what I used it for.
