Easy to install and the directions were ok. Replaced an old Vista 10 system with this it is working great!!!

Broken seal, missing parts, box looked used, finger prints on cover and missing transformer.

This panel is a great starter panel. Make sure you buy the alpha keypad if you plan on programing it yourself. Do your homework.

I got this to replace an old 1980s Radio Shack security system in our new home. Talk about a huge upgrade! Pairing this with an RF enabled keypad such as the 6162 RF makes it easy to add additional RF security sensors, without the hassle of running wires through existing construction. The gauge of the sheet metal is a little on the flimsy side, but I suppose its thick enough. The door pivots on metal tabs in slots, a real hinge would have been nice. The firmware version I got was the newer 9.18, which seems to have the new VIP menu driven programming interface that work with the 6162. As an embedded engineer, it was still a bit tedious to figure out how to program it. Im sure an alarm technician could navigate the menus much faster than I. Still learning the conceptual details of zones, modes, partitions, etc. But that gives me assurances that it will be very configurable for future plans. As others have said, these products are meant for installation by professionals bearing expensive monitoring contracts. The panel came with a good wiring diagram, but the programming guide assumes a little prior knowledge specific to Ademco control panels. It is not written for the DIYer, but you can figure it out. It seems from searching the Internet that there are additional programming features and options not described in the included manual. I intend to keep the system hooked up to a little chime siren for a few months while we ensure we dont have false alarms. Next phase will be adding networked control with AD2USB or Envisalink 3. Overall a great value for the price.

The system works just as advertised. Everything came properly packaged and worked first time.

Protección

This unit was 1/4 the cost of the replacement my professional installer quoted for the part. This was so cheap I had doubts that it was legitimate. Well, I received the enclosure, lock, 20p card, and power supply. I wired everything up, had the installer reprogram the new card, and was back in business. No issues, and I saved hundreds by doing part of the work myself. There is no known way to transfer the programming from a bad board to a new one, so be prepared to have the system reprogrammed.

I use this product as a local alarm/self monitored system for my home. The whole thing isnt really meant for those who are not willing to put the time and effort into something like this. While I was upgrading my older system to this, youtube came along and helped me as well. Once you get the wiring done, and you dont understand the programming guide, there are plenty of videos out there on youtube of how to program and understand what it means. Just type in something like Honeywell Vista 20p programming (The vista 15p is the same but with 2 less zones) **I want to give a heads up with programming you MUST have at least an alpha keypad to program. Keypads like the honeywell 6160 will do just fine. This is because the screen can show words and letters so you can understand what your programming. It is harder with the just numeric keypads like the 6150. If you can do all of that, your in luck my friend, youve found yourself a great security system.
