Love the storage and classic look. A backpack to use for years. Best backpack ever.

Ive had my pack a couple of months now, and it seems to be well-constructed and durable. I was initially nervous about how compact it was, but is nicely designed to have quite a bit of space within a compact footprint. As others have commented, the zippers can be a little awkward due to the protective fabric lip covering them. The zipper does NOT get caught in the fabric, however, in my experience. The only reason for the 4-star rating is that I wish it were about an inch taller to fit my 15-inch laptop. It does fit, but snugly, and I worry that the pressure against the top of the pack may result in extra wear over time.

This is a good size backpack with good pocket compartments. But I bought this to reminisce about my 90s version and the material is not the same or as flexible/soft as the old canvas of the 90s. The flaps over the zippers gets in the way but I’m hoping after use it’ll wear down and more workable.

The kid turned 13 and decided that his (still almost like new) LLBean shark-patterned backpack was too babyish. So he got this boring grey backpack, as it is suitably mature for a very-grown-up 13YO. Good capacity. Im unsure of whether the Jansport durability is as great as it was 30 years ago when I was in college, but so far its good.

Overall, this backpack is made very well and I will definitely use it. However, I wish I had paid a little more attention to a close-up photo of it because I might have noticed that the zippers are hidden by fabric. Aesthetically this is wonderful but practically it’s not. The fabric is a little stiffer than it looks to be in the photos. That shouldn’t be a downside, except it’s kind of hard to zip and unzip the pockets because you have to keep pushing the somewhat stiff fabric out of the way. Even when it was full, I had to tussle with the zipper a bit. I’ve used it for several days now, and it takes more time than I would like to get everything zipped up and then later get everything zipped open without having to mess with the fabric. I hope the fabric becomes a little less stiff with age, or I can picture myself becoming very frustrated with it the more times I use it. If I had seen this at the store and played with it a bit I would not have purchased it. Other than that, I would’ve given it five stars because it is very roomy, the straps are great, and it has some great pockets, although I would’ve liked a few hidden ones inside a couple of the pouches.

Love just about everything about this backpack - except the #*&^%!!! zippers!!! Ive owned JanSport backpacks for DECADES!!! I cant see anything on this one that indicates its some sort of knock-off, except maybe the zippers. They keep getting snagged in the little flaps above them that I think are designed to keep water out. If you are in any way handicapped and cant use more than one hand/arm, you will need to use your toes or something to get into this backpack. Either I have to fold the fabric out of the way or it will take multiple pulls on the zippers to get in. The only zippers that dont give me a hard time are the two tiny pockets that dont have a flap over them. Im already seeing the flaps getting frayed from all the times the zippers have gotten caught. Oh, well. Im no longer in the military, so I guess this might be the last backpack I need to buy anyway. But Im certainly never buying one online again.

This item will do in a pinch. Color is nice but the bottom is not suede and I doubt if it will hold up as genuine suede would. Will keep because I needed something for travel ASAP.

A few welcome changes this time around - a better back pad, a dedicated laptop sleeve in the rear compartment, a sturdier water resistant floor. The fabrics, zippers, and construction look to be as durable as before. Edit 2/09/23: The older models largest outside compartment had a double-slide zipper. Not a biggie, but I miss that on the new one.

In general, this product has good quality, and it looks pretty durable in comparison with my old backpack. It is a bit expensive for a backpack, but if it holds for the entire school year, that is fine for me.
