> 3 dayProvider sent a conventional KA-BAR without serrated edge....didnt return it because is a great knife too! Gave oportunity to test my blacksmith skills and made a serrated edge with a file and a lot of patience. Great knife.....deficent provider...be careful!

Greater than one weekThis knife is a very nice survival/combat knife in that is has a nice cutting edge. I would mostly recommend a plain edge (serrated is for rope and fibrous materials, as such it wastes a lot of blade space) but if that is what you are looking for it is a great knife. The edge comes fairly sharp and it is very quick to touch up. The tang is a bit weak, so it bends slightly if used VERY heavily, but is a great sharp, grippy and durable knife for all purposes. Lastly, the crossguard is pretty uncomfortable and would hurt if you stabbed hard into something, a very quick and nice fix I found was to bend the back (non edge) guard perpendicular to the blade and the other one upward, which makes for an extremely comfortable experience.

Greater than one weekThe Ka-Bar Fighting/Utility knife is one of the best multipurpose knives Ive found. It is fine quality, durable blade, and the rubberized handle is both comfortable and gives a feeling of secure handling. Best of all the product is well proven over the years through use in our military and it is proudly made in the USA!!!!

> 3 dayI am an avid hiker and rock climber so have always kept fixed blade knives around to bring with me for emergencies for the simple reason that they are far easier to maintain than folders, and quicker to use in a pinch. I have always been a Buck man, and Ka-Bar was a brand I knew well but never bothered with because I felt they were just too big and unnecessary for my needs. That is until a buddy of mine bought this knife and took it on one of our backpacking trips, I have to say, this thing is fantastic. This year while resupplying I had to have one so bought it from amazon, as always the transaction went swimmingly and the product was worth every penny, as well as the extra few ounces Ill be carrying. The serrated edge was really what I chose this particular model for to make it easier to cut rope and for other similar tasks and it works like a dream. The knife came super sharp out of the box, but the bevel is a tad narrow and steep on the edge (If you dont know what that means you probably shouldnt be wasting your money on a knife like this without doing allot of research first) so when the time comes to sharpen it I will definitely be widening it. The grip is amazing, as much as I love my Buck 119, I have always been iffy about using it in wet conditions without gloves in the event the handle got too slippery but I cannot see that ever being an issue with my Ka-Bar. Last but not least is the pommel, its flat and hard enough to be used as a hammer when needed which is definitely a plus for hammering stakes into rocky terrain. All and all this knife was a great purchase and I would highly recommend it to any collector, knife nut, or just someone who needs a good tool in the outdoors.
