My review for the Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300: The Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300 is a mature product option for anyone looking for a smart power strip that can be controlled from anywhere with a smartphone or tablet and with internet access -- but not from a computer or through a browser -- three stars off for this--you must use only the Kasa app with all of the tracking and security risks of doing so. The strip has six individually controlled outlets and 3 USB ports (but only older type A -- and none of them can be switched or controlled). Everything is controlled with the Kasa Smart app -- but the app is not for those with limited or low vision. The app uses poorly contrasting, very small fonts == none of which can be changed or enlarged. Another star off for this. You can use voice commands to control the power strip with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant -- and they generally work well if your device naming is clear and distinct or the voice assistants may be confused by phrases turn off the kitchen light and turn off the kitchen coffee maker. The Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300 offers surge protected -- but the amount of protection is not closed. I recommend using a surge protector or UPS with surge protection with known protection levels rather than relying on whatever protection this strip may supply. Also, there is no device warranty on the surge protection, so with up to nine devices plugged into the strip, its best not to take the risk of an unknown amount and quality of surge protection. Pros: Individually controlled outlets The bright white LEDs for each outlet can be turned off, but not the grounded or protected LEDs. Voice control compatible Power monitoring on each outlet Power switches at each outlet can be used when WiFi is not available. Cons: Mature technology No support for other than 2.4 WiFi Must use the Kasa app to set up and control the strip and outlets Hardware made in Vietnam Kasa app made in China (tracking and security risks) No support for computer or browser set up or control No support for other than USB A cables No indication of how much surge protection there is No surge warranty USB outlets cannot be switched off and have no LED indicator lights.

When I first received this and I plugged it in the units power measurement didnt work right. It would say 3700 watts and was not correct at all when its on for a period of time. It was on firmware 1.09 I checked for a firmware upgrade but none were available. I dont know how long it takes for the app to see there is an update but eventually it did. It went to firmware 1.12 and the issues with power measurement was fixed. It is nice having a power supply you can program to turn on and off, and also measure the power being used currently and over time. You find some devices in your home are energy vampires even when the power button says its off. My computer speakers for example consumer 25 watts when the power button is off, and 43 when its on. Thats like having several LED light bulbs turned on all the time. Pc monitors and even your desktop PC will also consume r a lot of powered even when it looks like its in a low power state.

I have upwards of 30 Kasa switches, bulbs and other accessories in my house. They all work AMAZING. I love the app and all the options they keep adding. The smart features and customizability just works flawless. They almost never lose connection and quickly respond to google assistant commands. This is really nice because I can make routines through google home to turn everything off but still have specific items on or off at my desk. I have my work and personal pc, fans, lighting, headset, etc all on different switches. I actually have 2 additional single switches in the same area and they all work great together. Super easy to wall mount and stays put very well. My only gripe is that the main power LEDs on the switch are a bit bright and they dont turn off at all. There is the main switch and 2 others. I hope they allow to turn them of or adjust the brightness in the future. But its not a huge deal as it is under my desk. I just push my chair in front of it at night and its not a bother.

This is fin great! Having multiple things on different schedules turning on and off makes life so much easier! Highly recommend!

I wish they had an option with a longer cord. I use this item in my garage and due to the short cord I cant really use it for what I needed it for. If they ever offer an 8ft or 10ft option I would definitely but a few.

I recently received an Echo Show as a gift, and was excited to begin my foray into the world of smart products. I started with lights and plugs, thinking this would help me reduce my energy consumption. I also have ADHD, so it would help me during those times when I forget to turn things off. After having a poor experience with a highly-rated but not so great no-name brand, this Kasa smart power strip was the first time I strayed from Govee products, and I’m glad I gave it a shot. The pairing experience was easy. Their app works and is intuitive to use. It allows you to name each outlet individually, and rearrange them on the fly if you need to (useful if you unplug a few things and re-plug them back in to different outlets). Each plug has an indicator light to let you know if it’s powered on or off. Inside the app, lies my favorite feature. It actually tracks power consumption and gives you breakdowns of power use for each plug daily, weekly, and monthly. You can also view real-time power consumption for each outlet (I added a few pictures so you can see what this looks like). This helps me see where exactly my power bill money is coming from, and allow me to make adjustments if/where I can. This power strip also feels well-made - it’s certainly not your typical $5 offering at a big box store. My only gripe is that the two USB outlets do not have Smart Control features on them, and also that there are no USB-C outlets. This is probably the *only* thing that keeps me from buying more of these. I would hope that this will be updated soon, as electronics are moving towards the USB-C standard globally. Overall, I’m happy with this purchase. It’s one of the few offerings in this category on the market, and one of the only ones I felt comfortable giving a shot. I’d say it’s definitely worth a try if you’re considering, just be aware of its teeny tiny shortcomings in the USB-outlet department. I’ve had this for about 3 months and have no issues so far, but will update over time to see what the longevity of this product is like.

I use these ALOT. I have no issues so Im not going to detail the obvious. Read other review for the obvious stuff. My review is going to list what I think could be improvements. First the APP is good but not if you have multiple homes. Everything is listed in a single list. So if you have 3 of these you have a long list (3x6) in order to get to what you want to control. The APP supports groups of things to control all at the same time but not segmented by location. Secondly, as a network technician I would love a rack mount version of this device. It makes it hard to have a nice clean install with this thing haphazardly strapped up or hanging down. :Lastly the tiny mounting holes in the back of the unit as too weak to hold all the power cords plugged into this unit. How about some front mount holes with some heft? Just my opinion. I hope TP-Link reads this review and takes some action.

Got this for my home office after switching to working from home. Love how I can have all my stuff (lamp, printer, monitor, standing desk, etc) in one strip but have separate commands for each outlet. It took minutes to set up and has worked for the last month or two with no issues. --------Update (now 3 months with it)-------- Ive read some of the reviews on here complain about numerous issues. I just want to share my experience more fully. Now three months in, Ive yet to have to Fix anything. Through power outages, network modem swaps and restarts, this thing has always worked. Ive only been into the Kasa app once to set it up and once to name one of the plugs I hadnt dedicated to anything yet, otherwise Alexa has control of turning things. I have had absolutely ZERO issues. Im not sure if all the negative reviews are user error or folks relying on the Kasa app too much, but if you have even the most basic understanding of setting up IOT devices, this should work fine for you.

This little gem was a life saver while I was away on a trip. Had all my bearded dragons accessories plugged in to this power strip. I was able to turn lights and heater on and off while I was away.
