> 3 dayMy review for the Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300: The Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300 is a mature product option for anyone looking for a smart power strip that can be controlled from anywhere with a smartphone or tablet and with internet access -- but not from a computer or through a browser -- three stars off for this--you must use only the Kasa app with all of the tracking and security risks of doing so. The strip has six individually controlled outlets and 3 USB ports (but only older type A -- and none of them can be switched or controlled). Everything is controlled with the Kasa Smart app -- but the app is not for those with limited or low vision. The app uses poorly contrasting, very small fonts == none of which can be changed or enlarged. Another star off for this. You can use voice commands to control the power strip with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant -- and they generally work well if your device naming is clear and distinct or the voice assistants may be confused by phrases turn off the kitchen light and turn off the kitchen coffee maker. The Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300 offers surge protected -- but the amount of protection is not closed. I recommend using a surge protector or UPS with surge protection with known protection levels rather than relying on whatever protection this strip may supply. Also, there is no device warranty on the surge protection, so with up to nine devices plugged into the strip, its best not to take the risk of an unknown amount and quality of surge protection. Pros: Individually controlled outlets The bright white LEDs for each outlet can be turned off, but not the grounded or protected LEDs. Voice control compatible Power monitoring on each outlet Power switches at each outlet can be used when WiFi is not available. Cons: Mature technology No support for other than 2.4 WiFi Must use the Kasa app to set up and control the strip and outlets Hardware made in Vietnam Kasa app made in China (tracking and security risks) No support for computer or browser set up or control No support for other than USB A cables No indication of how much surge protection there is No surge warranty USB outlets cannot be switched off and have no LED indicator lights.

> 3 dayWorked nicely at first was able to get setup no issue. However, some plugs lost connection after a few weeks of usage ,so I can no longer control them from the app. Resetting the device doesnt fix the issue. Just note that the device is buggy and you shouldnt plug anything essential into it as it seems prone to fail easily.

Greater than one weekI want to give the Kasa smart power strip its due as the best there is. I wrote a far different review less than a month ago panning the strip because while I had four of them working as intended within the Kasa app, the strips plugs were not recognized by the Alexa app. The technical support units of both Kasa and Amazon Alexa pointed fingers at each other. I was dubious of a promise by the latter that a remedy would be forthcoming within a week of my complaint. However, a very effective change was made to the Alexa app user interface and presto all of the plugs were recognized! I just bought a fifth Kasa strip to voice-control various lights and devices on a total of 30 plugs! Everything is working as intended. The TP-Link Kasa smart power strip is the best there is!

> 3 dayIt’s a well made and functioning unit. Works great for controlling my non-essential aquarium equipment through Alexa. My only wish is that it could reliably keep time and maintain schedules through a power outage. In the event of an outage, it will return to schedule when power is restored but only if it can reconnect to the internet. And I personally have experienced outages where the internet would not come back on. On the bright side though, it can maintain schedules through internet loss provided the power stays on, but only schedules in the Kasa app, not Alexa routines sadly.

> 3 dayI havent used any other brand for smart power bars but I enjoy using my Kasa with my Google home. You can schedule when to turn on and off your devices or if youre away from home for some time just to shut the power off for everything. Just wish I could do that with the USB outlets. I own quite a few of these and would definitely recommend them.

> 3 dayI have upwards of 30 Kasa switches, bulbs and other accessories in my house. They all work AMAZING. I love the app and all the options they keep adding. The smart features and customizability just works flawless. They almost never lose connection and quickly respond to google assistant commands. This is really nice because I can make routines through google home to turn everything off but still have specific items on or off at my desk. I have my work and personal pc, fans, lighting, headset, etc all on different switches. I actually have 2 additional single switches in the same area and they all work great together. Super easy to wall mount and stays put very well. My only gripe is that the main power LEDs on the switch are a bit bright and they dont turn off at all. There is the main switch and 2 others. I hope they allow to turn them of or adjust the brightness in the future. But its not a huge deal as it is under my desk. I just push my chair in front of it at night and its not a bother.

> 3 dayA person can get back what s/he pays for this smart power strip in savings from electric utilities in about 1 to 3 months. This is how I use the power strip to hunt down which of my home appliance and electronic device uses the most power. It turns out to be my large screen TV, which consumes 100W. I used to have my TV on most of the day even when I am just playing music from Spotify or YouTube. In San Diego, electricity costs $0.42 to $0.52 per kWh. Over 30 days at 24 hours per day, the TV was sucking in (30x24x100)/1000 = 72kWh or $29 to $36 a month. Over a period of 2 months, I simply made sure to turn off the TV when I was not watching it or when I was just listening to music. I was able to reduce $20 per month in electricity bill - $40+ over 2 months, which pays for the power strip. And the saving continues. And the saving continues...

Greater than one weekThe Kasa platform has proven itself to be reliable. I have developed an interest in monitoring the energy usage, not just controlling the power, of every device in my house. Ive slowly been buying into smart plugs, and I am only interested in ones that enable both functions. I am also very concerned with network integrity. Everything Ive read and experienced so far about Kasa smart plugs has been positive. It would just take one security flaw to shake my confidence in the platform. I have yet not seen any flaws. I now have 3 of these Kasa Smart Power Strips (HS300). The design of the product appears simple on the outside. During setup, the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to make it simple for the user is evident. Each plug on the power strip is registered as a separate object in the Kasa app. Once registered in the app, Alexa and Google Home are automatically updated so that if you call its name you can control the power to that object. The app enables easy customization of the name of each object. The Kasa app also allows you to view statistics, such as energy usage, of each object registered that is equipped with energy monitoring capability. I have so far experienced availability issues only when there were legitimate problems with my WiFi network. Once the power strip sees the network signal, it will automatically reconnect to the network. It is not reasonable to expect this product to work in an area where there is a low network signal. One will find themselves having to manually unplug and replug in the power strip to restart it. I am looking forward to more energy monitoring smart products from TP Link on the Kasa platform. I have avoided in-wall smart plugs and switches due to products from other companies which do not have a discipline toward cyber security or have frequent network issues. I think TP Link could be a brand that drives further seamless integration of smart products into my home. I would definitely consider an in-wall smart plug with energy monitoring from Kasa.
