The operative thing in using this device safely is to always test it first on a circuit known to be live. The reason is that it is battery operated and if the batteries are weak or arent making a good internal connection to the device, you may not get a reading. That said this tester is much better than the one I had previously from a different manufacture, which had a press-on cap that would often come loose when trying to switch the unit on. On this one, the cap screws on and the switch is a momentary contact pushbutton making it much more reliable. Because it is dual range, read the directions carefully. I copied the instruction chart to keep with the unit because I dont use it often.

This device will help keep me alive. I had a cheaper one which worked intermittently... not good when youre working with electricity. This device is way more sensitive and, therefore, safe to use.

This replace my old Klein non-contact tester, which work great after 5 years until it fell ladder. This new one is a little bigger but it seems even more sensitive and I like the auto shut off. The circuit test works well all I was doing some repairs on and older house. The test let me know right away that the neutral and hot were switch and it was not grounded even though it had three prong sockets. That was exciting.

As my husband would say in the world of electricians, Klein products are the best.

Good to have for DIY work. A necessity for working around electricity (ie: testing and changing light switches or plugs; installing light fixtures, ceiling fans, censor lights; simple wiring when buying electrical products that come with instructions). This is a simple home electrical testing device. Consult an electrician for tackling more complicated electrical wiring or anything beyond your understanding and expertise.

This is a very good product, I have several of these testers when tracing circuits in control panels with combinations of high and low voltage, this tester works extremely well I don’t have a need for the tester you plug into the socket because I test everything out other ways. This is a fantastic tool and it’s a very reputable company you will not go wrong with this
