I can’t tell but appears there is some sort of plastic coating on these. I’m at least one, the coating is ripped. It appears to be a few millimeters thick and probably meant to extend the life of the finish. Since this is for an entry to and from a garage, I can live with it. If it was for any other door I would definitely return it. I like the smart key feature on all these Kwik set products. I have used them a lot. That is worth the money.

Replacement for existing lock that failed after 6 years. The finish on these locks especially on the exterior side start to fail after 12-18 months depending on the weather.

Overall very good. I rekeyed it to our old key which was great, really like the feature and it works really easily. Con: the lock knob turns a bit hard, I hope it wont break, our 7-year old has some trouble locking/unlocking the door from the inside. On one of our doors the lever got loose, though that could have been me not tightening the screw correctly.

Great looking handles. We put them throughout the house, and used the entry key version for the external doors. The SmartKey feature is great. We easily keyed all doors to match - no problem.

Its all metal except for the locking knob on the inside, but the plastic is not thin and flimsy. Easy to install and has a great finish. I like the fact that I was able to re-key it to match our other Kwikset locks so we only have to use one key for all of the doors.

Very nice door handle, sturdy and easy to install.

Had to replace a existing door knob. Went with a handle since we use this door all the time. Easy to install, fit the existing door knob opening and I was able to rekey to use my existing key.

I paired this with a keypad entry deadbolt. Both look great and work well.

Best knobs in the price range.
