> 3 dayThis is a set clearly targeted at older collectors who have fun memories of watching the cartoon -- ok, fine, and maybe some of you have fond memories of the live-action movie, too. And for minifigure collectors, getting Fred, Wilma, Betty and Barney should be pretty fun. The Ideas sets are ones created by Lego fans and submitted for production. If they get 10,000 likes, Lego will consider it to become a full, production set. That is how we got this set. Lego doesnt produce the set exactly as it was submitted, however. And I do not know what their process is to determine what is included. The set is the iconic Flintstone home and car with the four figures. The home makes a great display set from the front and it features some fun elements from the show: the brontosaurus ribs, bowling pins and a bowling ball, the telephone... It is a high-level set for the Flinstones fan. I think a few more elements could have been added to improve the concept, not to mention Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm. It still looks great on my desk. I think the car was the part I was most excited for and it delivers.

> 3 dayMy 9 year old enjoyed putting this together even though he has barely seen the cartoons! I wish they could add the additional characters, especially Dino!

> 3 dayEveryone knows the Flintstones, many of us grew up watching the show, or weve seen it somewhere along the way. This set is one of the latest in the Ideas line, which made it from fan suggestion all the way to an actual official LEGO product. The design is clever, its a fun build, and the minifigures are great! The set depicts the home of the Flintstones, which is a stone building with a tilted roof, just like in the cartoon, along with the Flinstones iconic car. The set even includes the dinosaur ribs from the opening sequence which tips the car over! Who doesnt love recreating their favorite scenes in LEGO? The set is a fantastic value for parts, given that it well exceeds the standard price-per-part ratio. 748 pieces for $60 is a great value. The downside is that there really arent any particularly hard to find parts, and virtually no unique parts. The only unique parts to the set are the few printed parts, the cloth top to the car, and of course, the minifigures. The animal print parts for the curtains of the home will definitely come in handy in other creative builds, thats for certain! The build itself is relatively simple, with the highlight being the interior of the home. The sofa and television are cute, as is the telephone, but my favorite is the clever usage of the cloud shaped minifigure base from the Unikitty collectible minifigure line as the table top! It really does double as a stone table top very well, and I love it! The bowling pins are a great addition, as is the palm tree. There are only two improvements that I would have made with this set. First, I think that the front of the Flintstone home is too plain. Some sort of texture to it would make it much more appealing. As it is designed, it is just a flat blank wall. Thats an easy enough thing to fix. The other is that theres something just a little off for me with the minifigures. I love them, dont get me wrong, but Fred and Barney could have been better in my mind. Wilma and Betty work perfectly, but I think Barney would have benefitted from the shorter minifigure legs, and I think moulded heads for both Fred and Barney would have been a huge improvement. Their heads are so square shaped in the show, having them in the standard round minifigure shape just doesnt quite hit the mark for me. Of course, if they had been newly moulded heads, the set would have cost more, so there is certainly that trade-off. All in all, this is another fantastic set from the Ideas line, and the Flintstone family are welcome in my LEGO collection any day!
