I really like the humidifier. It is the first ultrasonic model I have ever purchased. Moisture output is great, easy to operate, easy to clean, and it is quite. Only thing is I cannot use it and neither could anyone else who lives in an area with hard water. You would need to fill it with distilled or purified water for use. This would make the cost of running the darn thing impractical due to the cost. If you have hard water it will deposit a fine white powdery just over everything in its path. My furnace shut due to low air flow. The particles from the humidifier had clogged the furnace filter. I thought no big deal maybe the filter was pass due (now I write the date on the end of the filter to let me know the last time it was changed) and replaced the filter only for the same thing to happen within two weeks. I am very disappointed to purchase this rather pricey item only for it to be useless for what I intended it for. I gave it a higher rating because it is good quality product. But by design is not something I can use.

As you can see the inside area has an opening which reads “do not allow water to enter through the opening”, yet it’s part of the unit that develops slime which needs to be cleaned weekly. Having this opening in such a inconvenient area is next to impossible NOT to get water into the opening. Poorly designed. Consider purchasing a different humidifier that is easy to clean without damaging the motor

I own several wooden musical instruments that require consistent humidity levels. This is particularly critical in the winter when homes in my area (mid-Atlantic coastline, USA) tend to see deep declines in relative humidity levels that remain unstable, which is very bad for instruments. I require 40% - 50% RH in my office/study, which is an enclosed space of 150 sq. ft., something this unit should easily handle. It fails, mainly because its internal hydrometer is completely whacked. The manufacturer was perfectly responsive and professional when I complained and quickly sent me a replacement. Which was equally problematic, so the problem isnt one of a malfunctioning unit. The problem is with the product build. The first unit arrived and started great. I didnt need, nor have used, all the functions. I merely required 40-50% RH in my study. So my review doesnt get into the cool v. warm mist, aromatherapy options, remote control operations, etc. All of that stuff was unimportant to me. I just needed consistency. And for the first evening, the unit did great. Critical to this story: I bought two separate hydrometers, one for my study (placed about 8 feet away from the humidifier) the other in my wifes study, where she keeps her own instrument. That first night, the humidifiers RH reading was about 5 points above what the hydrometer was saying, which is to be expected: the humidifiers internal hydrometer sits right next to where the mist is created and where most of the mist evaporates, so it is to be expected that the readings will be a tad higher there. I wanted 40-50%, so I set the humidifier to 45%. I got 40% on the separate hydrometer when the humidifier read 45% and shut down. However, in the morning, I came downstairs to discover that the room had plunged to about 31% RH according to the separate hydrometer. It definitely felt drier. looking at the humidifiers control panel, I was shocked to see that the unit thought the RH in the room was above 80% RH (!). I can assure readers that my study felt drier and that it had not been transformed into an Amazonian climate overnight, with lichens growing off my bookshelves. This became the story of the hydrometer: it would work just fine for a time but would then get these wild excursions in RH readings. I came down one morning for 90 minutes of practice, and in that 90 minutes, the humidifiers RH readings climbed from 45% to 76%. The separate hydrometer on my desk registered 37% when I arrived and 37% when I left, which felt right. I can assure the reader that I didnt break out in a sweat due to the thick tropical atmosphere in which the humidifier suggested I was sitting. As noted, the customer support was kind and responsive. I had a new unit within a week. I didnt even need to send the old unit back. However, the new unit suffered from the same excursions in its RH readings. While a sample size of two hardly makes my experience a scientific study, it seems highly unlikely that I was so unlucky to receive two bad apples. It seems rather more likely that something is just off with the design of these units. There appears to be no way to calibrate the humidifiers internal hydrometer--if one could train the unit by using a separate hydrometer, perhaps I could live with it. But absent this, and as my instruments require consistency in RH levels through the winter when interior RH levels typically plunge in my area as people seal up their homes and turn on the central air, Im going to have to retire these units and move on to another brand/solution. I should add that both of the free-standing hydrometers (the one in my study and my wifes) were consistent with one another. They are on separate floors of the house so that one can expect somewhat different readings, but they were definitely within a few % points of one another, and they consistently trended together. If developing and maintaining consistent humidity levels is not a concern for you--if you simply want to turn the thing on and have it pump some moisture your way--I would still consider this a viable solution. Its quiet, easy to operate, and efficient (to be expected, as my study is only 150 sq. ft, and this unit is supposed to handle many times that). But if youre looking to set the desired RH level, turn it on, and walk away, my experience suggests that youre going to be disappointed.

Anyone else barley able to unscrew the cap on the tank? I mean I dont even tighten it that tight and its ungodly tight to screw off the tank. And Im a pretty strong middle aged male.

Bought it as a pre-owned item. It still had some water in it and the filter for the oils was still in it....used....which was kind of icky, but it works great

I love this thing! Looking at it just makes me happy! The color is great, I love that its white and the touch screen makes it feel so modern. Love the remote because I can change settings without getting up if I needed to. It does make some noise, I would say less than a fan but still noticeable if you are sensitive to noises. The higher the moist level you choose the noise it is. I love white noise so not a downside for me but if you wanted something silent this is probably not for you. It does last a super long time if you fill it up and I put it on the second just level on 75% humidity. It will auto shut off when it gets close to being empty which is so relieving. I never worry about it overheating or burning etc because it has auto shut off every single time! I fill it with distilled water because I despise cleaning my products and didnt want mineral build up since my water is so hard. Ive been using it for about three weeks and still havent noticed any of the build up others mentioned and I use it every night on the week days and all day on the weekend. I will say if you are looking to buy this just buy it new! Do not buy used... I tried buying it used first and the one I got said no damage except the box and the box was sMASHED. Looks like someone kicked it around and sat on it which of course meant the machine inside was all scratched up as well as had insane amounts of white residue EVERYWHERE not just in the tunnel area but in the box on the machine, literally everywhere. Pretty annoying when it was labeled as very good quality with only damage to the box. Anyways, if you buy new you will have no problems with that because when I bought a new one it was perfectly clean with a nice new box and no residue. BUY IT!

My biggest thing is noise level and I have to say this thing is super quiet. Like the large water container that is easy to remove and clean. Over all I am impressed with this buy.

Ive had this humidifier for about a month and Ive used it many times and I can definitely give it a positive 4-star review. It does have a few minor issues which I will detail below but overall it is really nice and it definitely works and helps. First I got this because of its larger size and because it has hot and cool steam. You have to be careful with hot or cool steam depending on where you put it or what your allergy and sinus situation is. I actually talked to my doctor prior to unboxing this. I dont have allergies or seasonal allergies. I live in Michigan so in the winters it can be super dry for sometimes up to 5 months. My furnace does not have a humidifier so this is serving as the only humidifier in the home. That said when I started having dry coughs when I would lay down at night my doctor recommended I try some moisture in the air but to not overdo it. So just make sure you actually talk to a professional if youre having real sinus issues. As for the mist you have different levels and humidity that you can set which I really love but get yourself a free-standing hydrometer to tell you the humidity in your house. The one thats on the machine simply is not accurate which you will see in almost every review. You can get them from between $8 to $17 and sometimes you can get a two pack for under 20. That will be accurate to tell the humidity and temperature in your house or outside. The machine has a slight flaw because it lists the humidity in its direct area and since it has mist and moisture all around it in my opinion it reads up to 15% off. Right now Ive had my humidifier running for several hours and my room is reading at 30% with my own hydrometer but it says 55% on the machine. So if you need your room to be at 40% humidity when you first set it, put it to about 50 or 55. After its been running for at least 4 hours you might be able to adjust that. The machine will shut off or stay kind of a dormant state if its either run out of water or the humidity reaches what youve set it at. So if you were to set the machine to 40% and it thinks its at 40% almost immediately youre not going to get any moisture out of it. Thats why I recommend the additional humidity device. Mine is called Thermapro and you can find it on Amazon. One of the selling points for this was its large size as I have a 15x18 living room with vaulted ceilings. I wanted this to be like a saving Grace and unfortunately it doesnt humidify up to the size that it actually says. But it does a good job putting moisture in a room with a standard size ceiling and a smaller footprint. Putting it in a large room or room with high ceilings you will definitely notice a difference but it will take a while. When you first use this I recommend cleaning it thoroughly and getting yourself a dedicated either folding table or stand with a towel on it. It tells you not to put it on a wood surface or floor and you definitely dont want to do that. Depending on the water situation you have you might get a slight white residue on some things. Its similar to like a very very light powder and I mostly got it just over the machine where the steam would cascade down. It didnt affect the towel or the table that I put mine on but it was there. I did not use distilled water as they suggest because for me I will be running this at least 5 days a week and the cost to do that just wouldnt be worth it. For some people it might be and if you have a baby it might be a really good recommendation. I noticed when cleaning for the first time I did feel a slight build up on one of the internal pieces similar to how dried chalk feels. It was very easy to clean off with just a damp rag but the heating plate area I had a white scale buildup immediately after first build. This might alarm some people but it should not alarm you. It looks like it is just dried salt and its mineral in your water. I live in a metro area with very good clean water but unfortunately depending on where you live you might have that. If you live in a rural area or you use any kind of well water system or non-city water that has high minerals youre probably going to get a buildup. Theyre a really good instructions on how to clean this and you have to make sure that you clean that scale after a few uses. Overall the cleaning process knocks this down a star for me. Its nice I can fit my hand in the tank if you have very large hands you might not be able to. Its a little bit clunky and bulky and I do not like that you fill it from the bottom. There is a handle that you can carry but once you flip it youll see that its just kind of awkward to place on the base and since its over a gallon of water it can be a little bit heavier which might be problematic for some people. The base has a couple of pieces that can be removed and or cleaned or replaced. The cleaning of the base and how you have to spill the water into the sink when youre done requires you to remove the plug and the base after youve removed the tank. I find this process a little cumbersome and I wish that you could lift pieces up and actually rinse them. You cant do that with the base obviously because it has the cord and so you need to use a rag to clean which I didnt love. But I didnt get a lot of scalar buildup other than on the heating element which is the black square and the mist tube. I recommend getting just a dollar store bottle brush if you dont already have something to clean the inside otherwise I could see in the future it potentially having a skill build up in there regardless of your water usage. Going back to the humidity it definitely puts out a really good mist and I find that if you need to get the humidity up in your room for for dry sinuses or dry skin I would recommend doing the hot setting for at least 4 to 6 hours and then you could switch to a cold setting if you prefer afterwards. In my opinion the cold setting is kind of more maintaining moisture in the air and the heat setting really gets it into the air and has a very noticeable difference. If I go to bed at night and my room says 22% humidity and I run it on the hot setting medium mist and medium heat for 8 hours when I wake up itll be at about 35% if that helps. Then Ill just put it on a low setting on cold after I clean and refill the tank and keep it in there to maintain levels. I also love that this comes with a remote and you can turn the display off by hitting the auto button and holding for 3 seconds if you cant find the remote. he advised if you have a little one or any animals the remote is very small and super light. The first day that we set this up I had the remote on the bed and the cat decided to play with it and flicked it all over the place. So you might want to get some velcro and attach it to the back of the remote and the machine so you always know where the remote is. Overall I do think its easy to use its fairly easy to clean but Ive noted my dislikes. It definitely does work just not on as big of a room as it says. In our living room when I put the hydrometer on one side where the humidifier was and registered it for 3 hours and then moved it to the far other side about 25 ft away it was reading 7 to 10 degrees less humidity so you kind of have to take it for what its worth. I think its worth a shot.
