> 3 dayI bought this for my grandson years ago. When he was two or three, he would sing the alphabet song and run lmnop as one word. I started singing with him and pointing to the letters and the items around the letter so he could recognize them when I visited. By the age of 4 he was reading books. He turned 7 in October and reads contantly. His brother turned 4 in October also and I am waiting to see his progress from the same Melissa & Doug puzzle. They live in California and I live in Pennsylvania.

> 3 dayAlthough Amazon shipped this much quicker than I expected, it is not what was pictured nor what Melissa & Doug used to sale. I have a number of Melissa & Doug puzzles that are painted on ALL sides. The older puzzles are made of real wood and feel much nicer than this pressed board crap. They are also cut to the image where the newer puzzles are mere outlines, haphazardly thrown together. I would have promptly returned this puzzle, but my 19 month old son really loves puzzles and saw this and the other 2 puzzles as they were coming out of the box. I cannot believe that these cost the same amount or more than the other puzzles we own, yet they are of such an inferior quality that I cannot believe the are trying to pawn it off as the same thing they used to sale. Shame on you Melissa & Doug.

> 3 dayWe bought this and the Jumbo Numbers Wooden Chunky Puzzle and they were a hit with my daughter. She is now 4 and doesnt play with it much but my friends younger children love coming over and playing with it. The letters are big and easy to grab. I liked to mix them up and ask her to name the letter and then find where it went in the puzzle. She loved naming the animal on the puzzle. It taught her animals and letters. She still mentiones the animals on this puzzle when she says a certain letter (A is for alligator, just like on my puzzle!). The colors and quality is great too.

> 3 dayMelissa & Doug make a lot of great puzzles. This one is also very well-made. Unlike some of their other chunky puzzles, the puzzle pieces are not painted. Instead, the printed letters are glued to the pieces. The glued paper hasnt peeled at all, though, and these pieces wont chip like the painted ones do. I gave this puzzle to my daughter at 22 months. It wasnt too much of a challenge, and she absolutely loved it. For each letter, there are pictures of two things that begin with that letter. We often talk about the letters while she does the puzzle. Some pieces may be choking hazards for little ones, but its otherwise a great toy for toddlers who love puzzles.

> 3 dayThe original construction of this puzzle included paint all around the puzzle piece. Now, its just a cheap paper laminate on the top; the remainder of the puzzle piece is compressed cardboard. I called Melissa and Doug directly and asked whether they were still making the high quality version of the board, and she said they had discontinued it. They did offer to refund our money or send us an alternative toy, so that was nice. Ultimately, I kept the alphabet puzzle because its one of the better ones out there. However, I hate how Melissa and Dough cut corners on the new version. Disappointing, and now the pieces are chipping/peeling on the top, which means it looks even worse. Recommendation: Keep an eye out for the better quality version at thrift stores or garage sales. It will hold up better and youll pay less money.

> 3 dayGot this to help teach my little one 11-20. I like that the numbers are printed on the puzzle board underneath all the pieces to help her figure out where each of the numbers goes. They are large size pieces.

> 3 dayItem is as described. Very colorful. My son loved it when it when I took him to be library so I purchase it for him and he learns great with it. The pieces are thick enough that he stands it up on a table. He found a creative way to decorate his Christmas tree with the letter.

> 3 dayThe puzzle is great but we are disappointed that the puzzle was scratched up when it arrived. It was in two layers of plastic and the plastic wasn’t damaged. This leads me to believe it was damaged before it was packaged.
