During the process of getting this working the front cover plate will pull off and exposed the board and contacts leaving the plug in the outlet live. I tried added this to the DTE insite app for energy monitoring but it failed setting up. Problem was it kept the plug included which kept me from adding to another zwave network (home assistant). I tried the reset procedure (two press then a 10 second press and hold) but it did not remove it from the DTE bridge network. I fixed the issue by manually excluding the device though DTE insight (had to power cycle the bridge to get the exclusion to work). Then I was able to connect it to the Home Assistant Zwave network. I am just starting out with Zwave and discovering that as long as the Zwave hub is on and owns the device, the device will continue to connect to the old hub and not the new one.

When I first added this device to SmartThings hub, it showed up as a Siren. Then I changed the device type to Generic Z-Wave Dimmer in IDE and it worked fine. But, I found that the blue LED was way too bright. So, I searched on Minostons website for a DTH but could not find anything under Download. The custom DTH is under the Product page. Go to the MP21ZD product page on Minostons website and at the end of the page, they describe in details how to install the custom DTH. Once I did that, I was able to control the blue LED light and many other configuration parameters via the SmartThings app. I also noticed that this device inclusion and exclusion is really fast with the SmartThings hub. All the functions work as advertised. The user manual is very detailed and normally manufacturers do not provide this level of detail. So, overall, it is a nice buy.

This is a great little Zwave switch. The only hard part was trying to get my IQ4 Security panel to connect to it with the camera. I actually had to punch in the 40 numbers on the side of the box which was super easy after that was complete. It connected right away and the range is amazing. I have this sitting outside my back yard and is connected to my fountain so that i can turn on the switch with my phone and enjoy my fountain running. I will definitely buy more of these switches for around the house!!!

I got these in a 2-pack since they are one of the smaller Z-Wave Plus dimmer plug on the market. The first plug I installed using the SmartThings app in scan mode, and was able to use the QR code to add it with S2 security, however the device was listed as a Siren and had none of the dimmer functions in SmartThings. The AMZ product page makes a reference to having to use a special device handler, but there is no link to it and a web search only finds a sketchy reference to a site that requires a credit card to download. I was able to fix the device by going to the SmartThings Groovy IDE and editing the device (changing the type from SmartAlert Siren to Dimmer Switch. When I added the second plug to my system, it showed up as a Z Wave generic switch and again I had to edit it to be a dimmer. Now both plugs are working properly (on/off/dim).

I was looking for an easy and affordable way to add my low voltage lighting systems in the yard to my Vivint hub to control. I got my installer code from Vivint and plugged in both devices and with three quick clicks they added to my Vivint system without any problems. Now my LV lighting is part of my smart home system with very little cost or effort. Ill definitely buy more of these as I continue to add more devices.

I love these plugs, they are compact, do not cover the second outlet on the wall, work great with Z-Wave; and the price is just right compared to other more expensive plugs. Includes and excludes from Z-Wave controller very easily. Great product.

Excellent little dimmer module! And it leaves the 2nd wall outlet unimpeded. I had no issues pairing it with my VeraSecure, and have no issues controlling it. I was very pleased to find it really does deep dimming, all the way down to 1% with the bulbs I use, which is basically night-light level. I even reduced the minimum dimming level parameter in the MP21ZD down to 1% from its default value of 10%. I observe no flickering at any level. It does do a brief flash when going from off to a very low level (like 1%), but I want it to do that to properly start the bulbs. It also works perfectly with my Zooz ZEN34 remote switches for both on/off and dimming control. I have the ZEN34 associated with the MP21ZD on association group 2 for on/off and group 3 for dimming. That was a pleasant surprise as the documentation for the MP21ZD doesnt say it supports group 3. First one worked perfectly, Ive ordered two more! UPDATED 2022-10-13: Five stars down to 1 Three of the four I purchased are now in the trash: #1: I think it was frequently tripping its thermal sensor. With a 10W LED table lamp plugged into it, every couple of days the light would just go out and Id have to unplug/replug the dimmer into the wall. Unacceptable. #2: Never came back after a brief (1-2 second) power outage. Totally dead Zwave interface, unplug/replug no help, unpair/repair not possible. Maybe there was a surge or something, but none of my other 100+ Zwave devices had an issue with that power outage. #3: After a couple of weeks of use, started doing a single, deep flicker with every level change. As I was using it to automatically control a floor lamp in a room based on ambient light, and my controller would command level changes periodically, it was very irritating.

I use Home Assistant and was unable to get this to include and work. Was forced to return for refund.

Overcurrent protection trips when starting my clothes dryer even though it claims to support 15A. The dryer says it works in 15A or 20A outlets and uses a standard power plug. I think there is just too quick of a surge when starting the dryer for this device. I can use it with other high amp devices with heating elements that dont surge, so I dont think its defective. Its just not clear in the description that it wont work if there is a sudden surge even if its under 15A. Other than that, it integrates very nicely in Home Assistant so Ill continue to use it for other devices!

Needs better instructions especially if you want to pair this model with the manufacturers app. But once you get it working its pretty solid and a good value.
