> 3 dayThe leading seller in auto sound deadening is Kilmat and this is a clone. Some products are tar based (ala original equipment) but this is an excellent substitute at 1/3 the cost. Even $30 to $40K autos can use additional sound deadening, especially if you want the best from your car stereo. Installation is easy. For fitting, use a box knife and scissors to rough cut length. Peel the top 3 of the backing and roll it in place along the top, then trim to fit your door. Fit your door latch cable and wires thru, then peel and roll the rest down. Its OK if you mess up because small pieces can be applied seamlessly. I covered some necessary screw holes, so used an old chopstick to punch a hole. (The material is soft.) Use a quality duct tape to seal the seam(s). I used Gorilla tape because the adhesive doesnt harden like typical home duct tape. A shop will charge hundreds for a job you can do in 8 hours. The latest install is on a Fiat 500. On the freeway the car is loud enough that the stereo volume had to be set to 22 (of 50) to listen to the news and, with music, the noise levels approached dangerous levels. After installation the car is quieter and the stock speakers have clearer sound and more bass. Volume could be reduced from 22 to 15. The rear deck received 1/2 marine closed cell foam sheet. The doors had some of this foam applied to the outer skin and Noico applied covering the inner skin. This (sort of) turns the door into a speaker cabinet and gives the doors a satisfying thump when closing. I would have done the same for the rear speakers, but they are angled on this car. All I could do there was line the outer panel. The front doors required 4 (of 9) sheets. I am not doing the rear hatch with this product. The extra 5 pounds is a bit much for the factory door shocks to hold up. The next step would be to pull the front seats and carpet and line the belly and firewall to further reduce road noise.

17-04-2025Very easy to cut to the size & shapes that you need. Little to no odor once installed & reduced the exhaust drone & road noise in my 2012 Corvette Grand Sport. 54 sq ft covered the entire rear hatch, over the rear wheel wells, driver & passenger floor boards & drivetrain tunnel. Would definitely recommend. Tip - smooth out using the handle of the scissors you’re using to cut it. No need for a roller.

> 3 dayMy biggest gripe with any butyl mat is the smell but I cant say Ive gotten any really bad smells. It lays down pretty easy, I did the install in relatively cool conditions (mid to low 40s) just used a propane torch to warm up the panels quick. Id recommend this product.

> 3 dayThis stuff has a stronger smell relative to competitors, and Im concerned the embossing leaves air gaps beneath the foil/butyl interface.
