Oreck XL Vacuums Best Roller (1 Brush & 3 Belts)

I needed to replace the brush on my Oreck vacuum that Ive had forever and was pleased to fine them on Amazon for a decent price. To boot it comes with 3 extra belts. This is handy for when you suck up something that stops the roller and wears on the belt. When you small smoke its time to change the belt. Using care can avoid this problem as replacing the belt can be a pain. The roller made a lot of difference and I can see it in the way it cleans my carpet and works the nap to stand up again. It helps when doing regular floors too as the bristles are long enough to reach the floor now! Its like having a new vacuum for ten bucks.

So my 30 year old Oreck XL stopped picking up what I was vacuuming. Took it in for repair, and was quoted $185. Motor and brush needed repair. It occurred to me that the motor noise never changed, just the suction. I took a plastic sink snake (to grab hair out of the drain), and came in from the bottom, and pulled-out some serious chunks of who knows what? Suction is good! Now for the brush - ordered this replacement ($13+), and 10 minutes after delivery, my 30 year-old vacuum is literally good as new. And I saved $171+.

You have no idea the satisfaction you get when you are able to fix something yourself and save a lot of money doing so. There are a few instructional videos on YouTube that made it easy. Im sure a repair shop would have charged me at least $75. And, I have a few extra belts if and when I need them

My order was delivered quickly, the vacuum belt and roller brush fit perfectly. Im so glad that I choose to get the new roller brush because I would not have known how worn out my old brush was. With the new brush my vacuum goes forward under its own power of the brush scraping the carpet.

Previous roller bearings had worn out- vacuum started to smell like burnt rubber before the fix. Took a few things apart- very simple process, and found the roller was difficult to turn. Looked locally for parts with no luck, found this here and am very happy

Easy installation

I bought an Oreck for their simplicity and ease of repair. When I smelled burning rubber I knew it was either the belt or the brush. Turns out it was both. One order and 5 minutes later and the machine is back up and running ready for crumbs for years to come. Not bad for $13.

Ordered this to replace the worn unit on my old vacuum. Fit and looks exactly like the OEM one i removed

This is the old version of the roller brush and will fit any of the older XL uprights that use the 11 inch roller brush. A guy at our local Oreck shop, also told me that this roller brush is the fix for the junk plastic ones on the newer Blue commercial Orecks. (The red commercial and older blue commercial XLs dont have the roller brush failure problems)

I was almost going to take my 12 year old Oreck XL (great vacuum) to a vacuum repair shop, but decided to take it apart myself and take a stab at it. Turns out it was pretty easy to figure out the problem. The roller had so much hair and lint and string caught in the turn-y pieces that it couldnt turn anymore, and was burning up belts. I cleaned out what I could but it still wouldnt turn as easily as it should. I am sure the lubrication in the turny pieces was gone after so many years and that there was more stuff stuck in there I couldnt reach. I ordered this, snapped it in place, replaced the belt and my vacuum works like new - in fact I forgot how great my vacuum was, as it had probably been working sub-optimally for a couple years. Ive seen some people complain that Oreck didnt make a roller that could prevent this problem from happening in the first place, but in my opinion a $12 replacement part after over a decade of regular use is a small price to pay to keep my vacuum working well. Im happy.
