Oreck XL Vacuums Best Roller (1 Brush & 3 Belts)

So my 30 year old Oreck XL stopped picking up what I was vacuuming. Took it in for repair, and was quoted $185. Motor and brush needed repair. It occurred to me that the motor noise never changed, just the suction. I took a plastic sink snake (to grab hair out of the drain), and came in from the bottom, and pulled-out some serious chunks of who knows what? Suction is good! Now for the brush - ordered this replacement ($13+), and 10 minutes after delivery, my 30 year-old vacuum is literally good as new. And I saved $171+.

The brush and belts fit my XL9100HG perfectly. The old brush had stopped turning smoothly; it seems that hair (human and pet) gets inside the bearing area and gradually stops the brush from turning smoothly so you need to replace it every few years. Once the brush stops spinning freely, the belts quickly burn up. To install the new brush, first slip the belt around the motor spindle, then around the metal wheel on the brush, then pull the brush back away from the motor until you can slip the black end in the slot. Make sure the New marking on the black brush ends (the end with the sawtooth pattern) is visible (facing the floor when in operation). After the brush wears down, you can rotate the brush ends 180-degrees so the Old mark is visible (closer to the floor when in operation) and the sawtooth pattern is inside the slot; the teeth push the brush a little closer to the floor, putting the worn bristles in contact with the carpet again.

From a mans perspective! Its the holiday season and I have picked up some of the slack around the house by doing some dusting and vacuuming after all the Christmas decorations are put out. I could not believe how HARD it was to vacuum, it was a real workout. No kidding, i was sweating pushing the Oreck vacuum. I asked my wife about what was wrong and she said, Nothing is wrong, it just pushes hard! There is no way it should be that hard to push a vacuum. After a very little research I found that replacing the roller was all that was needed. This roller took less than 5 minutes to install, just look at the old roller before removing it and the orientation will be obvious. After installation, NEW SWEEPER! Glides over the carpet like it should. And here is the interesting thing, the old roller had brushes that look really good. So if your Oreck pushes hard, replace this roller.

Followed instructions, easy to change, works well.

A little difficult to install as the belt must be stretched.

Bought this because my vacuum did not pick up little bits of lint/small dirt, and im glad i did. The brush underneath was rolled up in lint string and hair, once i removed it, found out the belt was also done too. once i replaced both, it was like having a brand new vacuum. so what im saying is for the price...why not? cheaper then getting a new one.

Exactly what I needed! After watching a YouTube video on how to fix your Oreck I did all I could except for buy a new roller. I literally washed the bag on hand wash only cycle...came out great, washed all the pieces I could in the sink (except the motor of course), put a new belt on...but it still seemed to be burning up. I have an Oreck XL Xtended Life Celtic Hypo-Allergenic Filtering System Vacuum for residential use. I just looked for Oreck XL roller brush. So I’m a last effort to revive this Oreck XL I decided to get a new roller. It came with 3 new belts. I just put it on and woohoo no more burning up smell...vacuumed like a brand new one! So when u think it’s toast...but a new roller and it’ll be good as new! So happy! Came fast and was what I needed!

Can’t beat this deal for the price. 3 belts and a roller. Only 5 screws held the cover on. Super easy to install. Vacuum works like new again!
